I was reading about Reggie Ho in a book about ND football just last night. He created himself to help the team and even turned down a scholarship when one was offered. He always regarded himself as just a student who was volunteering to help the team. He really was a solid gold hero...
Trevor Ruhland, OL from Illinois is Irish. He's not highly rated but supposedly the staff esp HH really liked his toughness. Supposedly they wanted only 1 more OL besides Tillery and Hodge and it was supposed to be a OT. Ruhland is more likely an OG. So they probably take 4 OL in this class if they can get an elite OT like the Little kid from Texas. Here's a quote from Sean Mele on Mike Franks site.
This kid is a beastie boy! They'll have to keep him on a leash! Time will tell, but the films say that this 1st Team All-State player from Illinois sure likes to hit people... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ytvZFepHoU4?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0"></iframe>
 The International House of Pancakes is calling YOU! I could watch this kid all day. He plays the game like he just invented it... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/K0zCLqlJ5gk?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Do you guys know that Notre Dame is still paying Chollie a full salary through the summer of 2015.
I just renegotiated the lease on my office...I should've had Charlie's Agent do it for me...they'd be paying me to occupy my suite. :?
ND <t>The Ruhland kid looks good on video. Let's hope he keeps that nastiness and gains about 30 lbs. Welcome aboard young man.</t>
Irish womens golf team made the NCAA's , they finished 5th at the ACC Championship. I'm not sure how they arrived at this number but the NCAA's have 72 teams. They will be playing out west at a resort called Suncadia, it's East of Seattle. Looks like it's out in the middle of nowhere.
Walk-on <t>New Preferred Walk -On<br/> <br/> Austin Webster from Los Angeles. He is graduating from a very small private school, Windward, that just started playing 11 man football in 2012. He is a 6'0" 180 lb receiver/safety/kick returner.</t>
While it's hard to project much for the walkons, every year we one or two who make significant contributions either on special teams or as holders for the kickers....or somebody like Joe Schmidt who pretty much won the game vs USC with his pass defense on a USC WR. Now he's in the mix to be a consistent contributor on the defense at MLB. Usually the coaches will give one a scholarship when we have unused ones. Welcome to Austin Webster. He's the 2nd or 3rd preferred walk on from So. Cal this year. I remember a OL from Mater Dei, I think, who looks like he could contribute down the line.
:? :?: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wPHvipdI3Zc?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0"></iframe> Austin Webster? Never heard of him or his HS. Looks like a tackling dummy to me... These schools are VERY small and so are their players. I'm familiar with ONE of the teams on their schedule...Paraclete HS. It's in the middle of nowhere on the road to nowhere out here in the desert. I anticipate that his first few practices at Notre Dame may come as a shock...
I know this story. My son lived it. His first few practices at ND did not come as a shock. He learned what he expected to learn, why he was not an elite recruit. Nevertheless, he stuck with it for 4 years. He contributed (I have video to prove it), earned his monogram, and made lifelong close friends, one of whom, Brian Hamilton, is his co-coach of their 10 yr. old daughters' soccer team. He also became a co-founder and sec.-treas. of Lou's Lads, through which he has regular contact with Coach Holtz. Not bad for a kid who was recruited by only one D-1 program (Air Force). The Webster kid is going to realize his dream. He will contribute. I wish him at the very least the experience my son had, both in school and post graduation. That alone would make his decision worthwhile. Anything more would be icing on the cake.
Thanks, George. I normally keep my thoughts to myself, but reading the Webster kid's story prompted me to reflect out loud this one time.
WR Commitment <t>well looks like we got one from Tenn who will make a stop in CA first.<br/> <br/> C.J. Sanders.<br/> <br/> The four-star wide receiver from Brentwood, Tenn., committed to the Irish on Tuesday after wrapping up a weekend visit to South Bend. Sanders, who will transfer to Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif., for his senior year, becomes Notre Dame's eighth verbal commitment and second receiver following Jalen Guyton.<br/> <br/> "I have officially committed to the University of Notre Dame & I thank God for this opportunity," Sanders posted on Twitter in announcing his commitment.</t>
