Hey Corey, have you seen Bo Nix (QB) from Pinson Valley? He's on the Irish radar now for 2019? Does Carson's school play Pinson Valley?

Actually, the kid was at Scottsboro but his dad took the job at Pinson Valley so he's there now. PV has more athletes than Scottsboro so the kid should have more weapons at his disposal. Pinson Valley isn't on the schedule, but I do believe one of our local rivals plays them. There's a chance the teams could meet in the playoffs.

Our spring game is against Scottsboro because we thought they'd have Nix, but father and son have bailed so we're stuck living up to a commitment that is kind of empty now. We'll roll Scottsboro without Nix. Hell, we probably would have rolled them with Nix.

The kid puts up huge numbers but loses to every 'good' team he plays. It's an 11 man game. Pinson Valley should help him with that.

His daddy was a good QB at Auburn btw.

I do think that we'll ultimately do that, but I would be surprised if we were on the cusp right now. We have a contract with NBC, the ACC has their own contracts and I think most of these run out in 2025 or something like that.

I know every time I read that the playoffs are going to be expanded to 8 teams, somebody points out that there are contracts involved and you can't just expand without everybody sitting down and tearing up the old contract and going with a new contract.

That's why the talk about OU wanting out of the B12 doesn't really make sense because they have signed away their media rights for quite awhile going forward so they can't just make the move.

A&M and Missouri were the last teams that were able to do that, and since then all the conferences have big poison pills to prevent it.

I won't be shocked if when then next round of new contracts comes around that there will be a lot of changes and maybe even the dreaded "Super Conference" of 64 teams.

The Irish paid Charlie Weis $19 million. AFTER they fired him !

His agent makes Warren Buffet look like a beggar.

We certainly deserve the public scrutiny for the Weis fiasco.

I'm surprised that this is still a story. Everybody has known for a long time that Charlie got over on us with that extension. It was controversial in the media at the time because of the Tyrone Willingham firing after "only" 3 years.

But as we all know Charlie was on a roll, he got off to a great start and that USC game even though it was a loss ( and controversial one at that) was that year's game of the century. Well at least until the Texas win in the Rose Bowl.

He'd made stars out of Quinn, Samarzdja, Tommy Zibikowski, Darius Walker and others. So his agent got the rumors started that the Cowboys were going to make him an offer he couldn't refuse, and other NFL teams were sniffing around as well. I doubt if any of it was true, but Kevin White took the bait.

But as I said all this has been known and discussed for quite awhile, why the media needed to drag it up again is beyond me.

It is no secret to be sure but I think it's is just the sheer absurdity and magnitude of it that bears repeating.

It was one of the greatest contract heists in sports history.

I would not be surprised if that isn't something that comes up regularly. I think I have read that if we ever decide to join a conference that there is a a deal in place already that would make it hard if it wasn't the ACC.

I'm a little surprised at the interest from Texas. Buechele our starter from 2016 had a pretty good year for a true freshman, and this years true freshman Sam Ehlinger is considered to be so good that he is expected to start at some point this season. Now I could see Tom Herman wanting Zaire for backup, as those 2 guys are the only QB's on the roster. But it's doubtful that he'd be handed the job. And you have to figure there could possibly be team chemistry problems if he came in and beat out the two guys who were there already.

I thought for sure he would transfer to a MAC school or maybe a lower level B10 team.

He needs to get this settle soon, as where ever he goes he needs to get there and go through the summer workouts and 7x7 to get to know his new team mates.

    Good luck to him.

Irish Spring is coming to an end. Both our lacrosse teams are out, the softball team is done, the baseball team got swept by BC last weekend and likely to be one and done with regards to the ACC tournament.

They fired the Irish Mens golf coach, and the womens team didn't make it out of regionals. We had a couple of winners in the ACC track tournament that move on to the NCAA's.

They need to fire the Baseball coach and make a commitment to excellence with that program.

    On to the Summer program!

So Las Vegas has Identified ND's four biggest games in 2017 as MSU, USC, Stanford and Miami.

They have us as big underdogs in three of the four with ND only favored against MSU by 6.5.

This tells me that Kelly has to prove himself all over again after last year's debacle.

If Kelly goes 8-4 or 7-5 I won't be surprised if Swarbrick calls that a significant improvement and Kelly will be back in 2018. ND fans aren't likely to see it that way and there will be even more unrest, as we all know Swarbrick at this point is not exactly a popular AD either.

A lot is riding on Kelly having made the right moves in hiring his new coordinators and in Brandon Wimbush.

Maybe so Sid, but he and Kelly are tied together at the hip in a lot of fans minds.
