Interesting article on DawgNation about the UGA game. At the end the author comments that UGA fans expect to come in droves, he says 40K. They are getting 10K tickets from ND, which I thought we always gave 5K. But somebody told me that USC gets even more. Not sure where they come from though. Maybe Mike or Sid know.

But to tell you the truth given the current unhappiness of the fans with the direction of the program, with Brian Kelly and with Jack Swarbrick. If the UGA fans are willing to put up the cash, I won't be shocked if ND fans take the money and sell their tickets. Could be another situation like the Neb game back in when Davie was coaching. Georgia is a red/black team so we could see another Sea of Red.

The rest of the article was pretty much stock stuff that you get from most first time visitors to ND. Beautiful Campus, respect for the traditions, etc. In general a very complimentary article.

I've said here more than once that I detest the segment of ND fans who are whores, who will sell their game tickets for a price to the opposition. I can't imagine that there is a following stronger than Nebraska's, but if they come, there unfortunately will be tickets available.

<t>Kelly says it will be 1s against 1s for the Blue/Gold game. Should make it an more interesting game.<br/>

As far as Georgia having 40K in the stands for that game...be my guest. It will be a long trip home for a lot of folks after the Irish kick their ass. It's not as if UG looked all that great last season and from what I hear from their spring practice reports it ain't getting fixed that fast. Bring it on.</t>

<t>Just a thought but if ND wins convincingly against Temple in week 1, I'm sure that will reduce the number of those willing to sale tickets to UG fans.</t>

Up and At'em boys....Spring Game today at noon!! NBCSN!

Oh and Sid don't forget to bid on an authentic ND Game worn helmet from the 2016 season! Eli Manning guarantee's that these were actually worn during the games and not scuffed by trainers just for the auction! ;)

Just finished watching the Spring Game. Couldn't come away with anything in particular. Flutie and the other guy were saying how important the showing of Ian Book was, but it was against the #2's. Wimbush had a couple of picks and looked ok to me but I wasn't wowed. RB's all had some good plays, but to me everything looked like a practice which it was so again hard to come away with anything.

One good thing, nobody got hurt apparently.

They said it was important that Book looked good so that we can be comfortable with him in case something should happen to Wimbush. Every spring we have the conversation that without a definitive outlook. Who could have predicted from the 2016 spring game that we'd go 4-8? As far as today, did the #2 team score more because the #2 defense wasn't that good? Is the #1 offense actually good but the #1 defense is really good? Or...........? Like Terry said, it's hard to come away with anything. I enjoyed watching the RBs who looked strong and the WRs and TEs who showed good hands. My eyes aren't trained to see how things looked in the trenches, so I can't comment on the line play.

    :D

The skill people all looked good: backs, Dbacks, receivers etc...

I hope nobody is worried about Ian Book anymore. He put up Star Wars numbers in high school against very good competition. He's fearless, mobile and he can throw. Boise State missed a lot when he picked Notre Dame. We have at least two good QBs now...

I don't know how much we can take away from that game. QBs stand in the pocket well when they can't be hit and WRs have great hands when they're not going to be lit up after a catch. I thought Williams looked like a strong runner but you have to wonder if poor tackling contributed. I thought Stephersen had the bust run after catch in the game.
Book looked ready if needed. I hope the O line isn't overrated again this year.

I've read some write ups and truthfully I guess those guys have to write something but much of the praise that is being given out I just can't see it. I'm still hopeful that the offense will be good which it will if the OL is good.

I did notice Drue Tranquill making some plays, I'm hopeful that he'll be a great fit at Rover and have a terrific Sr. year. He's a kid I really like, he's battled back from several knee surgeries, he's a terrific student and majoring in Mech Eng.

As far as Book goes, I think the knock on Book and what kept him from being more highly recruited is that he's short and white. It's not like Wimbush is tall, but he's got more speed and athleticism. But Book did look pretty good and I was certainly glad that they ran the game like they did so that Book got plenty of reps.

Also something is going on with Kevin Stepherson. I think it's academic, but he's too good a player not to be one of the top WR's for us next fall. But he's been somewhat invisible during Spring Drills. I hope he's working hard on the books and is ready for August camp. I'm tired of last minute surprises of kids being academically out, Alize Jones last year. Oh yeah did everybody notice he's now Alize Mack?

It's always good news - bad news in these spring games. Two QBs combined for almost 600 yards passing. Running backs , four of them, gained yards in big chunks.

That was the good news. The bad news is they did it against our defense.

The good news is that the O-Line looked big.

The bad news is that the defense had 11 sacks

I've heard the Pope has already painted this Gold, had the guys from the Sistine Chapel use real gold flake like we used to do at ND! :)

Sid Miami is not much better if that, this may be the year after 40 plus years where the record stops and we are not invited to post season play. Kinda sad as it's the last season for Jim Morris, not what a guy wants to end on that's for sure...

Hope you guys get invited to post season play..

Thanks, Ralph, but short of winning the ACC tournament, it won't happen. Sorry about your team, especially in your great long-time coach's last season.

Ralph I think we'd have to win the ACC tourney if we make, I think there are only 14 teams that play baseball, Syracuse doesn't play. But I believe the top 10 make the ACC tourney. there are 7 teams above .500, the rest are battling for the remaining 3 slots. I don't think our chances are very good.

This should be our coaches last season, he's really not done a very good job. Of course if the Ath Director thinks he has we'll see him again next year. But I hope not, I hope they go out and pay the frieght to get a really good coach. The program has been stuck in mediocre for 10 years.
