    Always hate to hear this, and it's being reported that he'll have a meeting with Kelly as to his future with the team. Sounds like there is a good chance he'll be transfering after this semester.

    There is a short video up on Johnny Lujack on und.com, it's pretty nice tribute to the man.

    I didn't know that he just quit Pro Football after 4 years and returned to ND to be on Leahy's staff. He apparently didn't have some career ending injury and of course the Salaries back then weren't all that great. Also he was under consideration for the HC job when Leahy retired but they of course gave it to Terry Brennan. Of course we'll never know if Lujack would have been a great HC or not, he left coaching and went into the Automotive Dealership business and was pretty successful.

    Brennan of course didn't last and was in over his head having only coached in High School, like Faust very successful in High School. Lujack wouldn't have had much more experience but it would have been under Leahy and at Notre Dame so maybe that would be enough.

    There has been a lot written about Leahy and ND, he was always pushing for more schoarships at a time when they were unlimited but also at a time when ND/Hesburgh were really wanting to emphasize and build up the Academic reputation of ND and not get pidgeon holed as a football factory. Some say that is what lead to Leahy stepping down not his health. If true then maybe they were afraid that Lujack would be Frank Jr. and went with Brennan thinking he would be more mouldable to the new ND. Pure speculation on my part.

    I had a passing aquaintence with Hugh Devore since he was here in Houston working for the Astros. He said the collars were always afraid of Leahy turning ND into a football factory and there was a constant behind the scenes battle with the Priests and him.

    Terry, I'm familiar with all that you wrote about Leahy, Brennan, etc., but I did not know about Lujack's tenure as an assistant coach.

    It's interesting that roughly 25-26 years after the mistake they made with Brennan, the same administration, different AD but same school administrators, made the same mistake with Faust.

    I don't know too much about him, but he sounds like a good player and if he's a hitter and has a defensive mindset I hope he ends up at Safety.

    Didn't come away from the Spring game with anything concrete, Kizer looked pretty good, Stepherson looked good in spots. Mainly nobody got hurt and we are now off till summer. Hopefully recruiting will heat up and we get some commits!

    Zaire also looked good. No clear separation between the two. Looks like we have our #4 RB, Justin Brent. Other highlights IMO, Torii Hunter, Jr.'s catches, and both defenses, which helped keep the scoring down.

    Not much to learn from this Blue-Gold game that we already didn't know...

    Yeah it's always one of those things, if your QB's and offense look great then what wrong with the defense or vice/versa.

    I favor Kizer as the starter vs Texas. I like his size, and he's a good enough runner. Plus due to Zaire's injuryhe's got a lot more experience. I feel bad for Zaire of course, he waited his turn and now he could end up the Texas game being his high point. I hope he stays as injury to Kizer is always a possibility and having an experienced backup is pretty nice.

    Of course a lot of people are buying that Wimbush is the most talented QB, strong arm and great runner. The worry is of course that he will transfer.

    I didn't get why they played Folston, they put a green jersey on him and you couldn't take him to the ground. So to me every time he ran the ball you couldn't really tell anything, I would think it'd have been better not to play him in the game.

    Dexter Williams showed a little, a good TD run, but not that much other. Josh Adams didn't do that much either.

    Anyway we'll have all summer and August to sort things out. I think we'll be a good team. The offense should be good, and if the defense can be good we could be in the mix for the playoffs. If no defense then no playoffs.

    From the clips I saw, Zaire looked like he's completely healed. He ran for a TD of about 15 yds. cutting perfectly and outrunning defenders to the end zone. There are those that say competition for a position is good for a team. If that's so we should have a hell of a competition for starting QB next year. BTW did anyone see that BVG's son is on the list (far down) of QBs? He scored on a keeper late in the game.

    I thought the same thing about Zaire on that TD run.

    Hopefully in year 3 of the BVG defense we'll finally be getting it, of course this year he'll be filling a lot of holes with guys like Day and Jaylon no longer there...then there is Joe Schmidt!!

    Baseball swept BC and Softball swept Va.Tech. We're 9-7 now in the ACC Atlantic, 4th place. Softball is in 2nd place behind FSU in the conference.

    Jaylon Smith not getting good news from Doc's. Won't play in 2016, you have to wonder where he'll be drafted now, if at all. There is no guarantee that he'll ever be the player he once was even if he does rehab and make it back to playing. Not the first player to have a devestating injury. Marcus Lattimore and Willis McGahee come immediately to mind. Who was that Ohio State LB who had a neck injury and was drafted I think by the Pat's but never was able to play.

    <t>Have to agree with most everyone else here on the Spring Game. Finally watched it on DVR. I'm with you Terry on Kizer. Based on the game sat I would start him over Zaire and I like Zaire a lot. Also, they need to make sure we hang on to Wimbush. I think he will be better than both Zaire and Kizer in the end. Hey, the WR frosh Stepherson looked pretty good even though he dropped an easy catch. <br/>
    <br/>
    As has been mentioned already it's hard to put much stock in these games. I remember saying after last years spring game that I hoped we didn't need to depend on Kizer for the upcoming season cause he had a horrible game that day, just horrible. We all know now that he had a pretty damn good season though. <br/>
    <br/>
    I see they are excited and almost giddy with the new frosh QB in Austin Terry.</t>

    Things looking up for baseball, not Miami good, maybe win some more games and do well in the ACC tournament and get an at large bid.
