I would not be surprised if Keeley is a multi-millionaire before the end of the year. He probably already drives a nicer car than any of us. You just can't take this stuff seriously any more. It's all about the Benjamins.

What's the incentive to these comfortable players to give their best effort? How different is this from the ''college experience" of the past? Anyone see some discipline problems dealing with millionaires? I doubt that the players with the biggest bank balance give the biggest effort.

    Gripper,
Well as you know I hate the whole NIL thing from the start. I was going to say that I didn’t think it would experience the “college experience”
For most of the players but then I thought even if only a handful of players on a team is making serous money from this has to have an effect as those with tons of money are going to have a much different lifestyle while in college than most of their teammates.
Also you do have to wonder if it will affect their performance since they are already being paid big time money.

I wish Avery only the best in whatever he chooses to do next.
There is a line in an old song by Billy Ray Cyrus, Some Gave All, it was a patriotic song about those who fought for our country. So not really about Avery, but still when I think about his time at Notre Dame, I can only think he gave it all he could for the Blue and Gold.

That's a very nice, respectful tribute, Terry. I agree with your reason for posting it.

The Avery story is just sad, the young man just kept getting up after being knocked down so many times. What great spirit and desire. You know he was hoping to have a good season and then have a go in the NFL but sometimes life has different ideas. I do know that whatever this young man does in life he will be successful and having that ND degree with definitely help. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Gotta love the kid. Just couldn't catch a break. Still, the staff and teams seem to be rallying around him.

CBS, Fox and NBC know exactly how much extra they will have to pay as part of their rights deals with the Big Ten if the conference were to land Notre Dame within the next seven years. That specific dollar figure, which is not publicly known, is spelled out in the contracts. No other school is mentioned in these deals by name, and the contracts do not assign a dollar figure to any other school that may join the conference, according to sources. Notre Dame is the only school that has specific language about escalators.

New Big Ten TV deals spell out increase in price should Notre Dame join league

What still has me wondering about that Media Rights deal that ND and all the ACC teams signed that assigned their media rights through something like 2036. It was the overreaction to the Maryland deal, sort of a poison pill.

I don't know how that would work if the Irish decided after this season that they want to join the Big 10?

Well the Irish are going with 6 Captains this year, and Avery Davis is one of them.

Notre Dame will have a team full of leaders, but six names will be at the forefront as Bo Bauer, JD Bertrand, Avery Davis, Isaiah Foskey, Michael Mayer and Jarrett Patterson have been named captains for the 2022 season.

Davis and Patterson will be two-time captains and become the 24th and 25th players in program history to earn that honor twice. Patterson has been a staple in the program and on the offensive line as he’s started 34 of 37 career games in the blue and gold. Davis suffered his second ACL injury in the last year earlier this month, but his veteran presence is needed and wanted in the program as the Texas native might command the most respect in the Notre Dame locker room.

I am heading to Webster Lake near Franklin NH, not as exciting as Rome Istanbul, etc like gipper but hopefully it will be a good trip.

Lots of family on this trip!

I have learned that I don't have to take off my shoes going through TSA since I am over 75!;)
