I wonder if he'd stay, or be allowed back, for a 7th year. It's been done before. Aly Patberg, who originally played women's BB at ND and transferred to IU, played 7 years. It may not happen with him having had surgery on both knees and/or because of other circumstances.
Good question Sid. If I were him I wouldn't and I would do the rehab and give NFL a shot as a UDFA. Besides I am not sure there will be a spot for him next year with the young receivers coming in to the program. Hopefully he will be able to get a Masters in something and move on with his life.
I was glad that Freeman named Buchner QB1. I felt like it was good to let Pyne compete but we had to have Tyler as the QB he has so much more upside. I remember back to 2016 when Kelly IMHO made a big mistake splitting the reps between Zaire and Kizer who had clearly showed he was the supeirior QB during the 2015 season. I got that Maiik had started the 2015 season with a gonzo game vs Texas but when he was hurt in the UVA game he was having a horrible game. I remember locker room post game video that showed Kelly telling Malik and his parents not to worry tbat they were going to take care of Malik. Then in Fall camp they split the reps and in the 1st half vs Texas they split the time between both guys, we were losing when he finally turned to Kizer we almost pulled it out. Just think it was the right thing to do to give Tyler the bulk of the reps leading up to the Ohio State game.
One thing for sure is that they will be watched like a hawk for any slips or perceived slights. ND crowd can be mean and highly critical of the announcing crew.
Doesn't make a difference Don, I read constant criticism of the broadcast crew. Hard, tough and mostly unfair IMHO.
That's sad Terry, but I see the same thing here as well. I guess some people are never satisfied, and many probably never played any sports themselves. It's always easy to criticize!
Yep, we know we'll be lucky if we can keep it to a 4TD loss. Maybe the Irish can give them a better game than Michigan St. but I doubt it.
More and more every day it seems like Keeley will decomit. Irish put out a new offer for his position. Also no 2023 QB on the horizon right now. Offers are out, but they are all to kids who are currently committed somewhere else. Not all is gloom and doom though as I expect we will have a very good class in 2023.
Rumors about potential new media rights deal. Upwards of 75M, which if that holds true goes a long way to help us stay competitive and independent. Notre Dame Notre Dame gets around $25 million per year from its current NBC deal, which runs through 2025. Sources say the school should expect around $60 million per year from a new contract -- though it’s hard to predict how the media business will look three years from now. There had been speculation that Notre Dame could command a rights fee upward of $75 million per year when it renegotiates its new contract. That’s because it fills its schedule with games -- like its long-standing rivalry with Navy -- that traditionally bring in lower ratings. You have to scroll down the page to the article. Of course it doesn't address whether we should remain independent or not or if the changes will allow us to be independent.
Bad news on the OL might be coming. 6 OL were not at practice today, no official word. Covid? Also word is leaking out that Sr. OL Jarrett Patterson has suffered an injury, again I haven't seen any official. Kinda cool video at this link.
Freeman will talk to media today after practice today so we will get some clarity on the injury situation. Lou Holtz did talk to the players the other day! Classic Lou.
How good is your recruiting when you lose the best player in the class, a 5-star guy, and you simply say, Oh well? I don't mean to downplay it. It hurts, but now we have confidence that we can recover.
