Here's your Holiday Kick in the nuts for ND fans... Kevin Stepherson and C.J. Holmes have been suspended indefinitely from all football related activities. Holmes would not be needed vs LSU, but Stepherson was/is desperately needed he is our only guy with some real deep threat type of speed. He missed the first 4 games of the year for unknown reasons, most speculated that it was academics and then when he came back it took him awhile to work into the rotation but at the end of the year he'd shown why he was such a good threat. No reason of course was given for the suspension. It's timing at the end of the semester certainly leads you to believe it's an academic issue but I've seen others say they may have been caught with sticky fingers at the mall. Which is even dumber than dumb.
OK it's official it was sticky fingers at the Mall. What a couple of idiots. http://www.wndu.com/content/news/Stepherson-Holmes-suspended-from-Notre-Dame-football-team-following-arrest-465505893.html
What the......? It was just a pair of sweatpants. Boys will be boys. I think the South Bend police are too hard on the ND student athletes. I'm sure that in every other school town in the country except for Gainesville and South Bend, they would have looked the other way. Truthfully, at ND they may be expelled. Idiots!
Why the hell would college athletes steal sweatpants? They must have an unlimited supply of free ones in the locker room?
I think Stepherson is our best wide receiver. But this is his second arrest so cut him. Holmes can be suspended.
 Idiots. This happens everywhere. There is no excuse. Punt them to the moon and make room for other young students who will appreciate the opportunity.
My post didn't mention Wimbush nor did it have anything to do with Wimbush. I was trying to make the point that the OL in 88 didn't face defenses that could overplay the run because of the deep threat that they had. It might be that they didn't block better, they didn't have to.Take a pill.
looks like the Gainesville PD must be taking a little Snowcation for the holidays. There can be no other reason for this. I think Holmes will eventually be allowed back, but this will be it for the other guy.
No kidding, shop lifting is dumb, stealing something that you can get for free and better quality...UA vs Nautica, is another level of dumb. I would think Stepherson has worn out his welcome and needs to move to one of those college towns all over america where athletes are not targeted! CJ Holmes as a first time offender and it's less than 100$ probably can make restitution and say how sorry he is and how he's learned so much from this mistake and how he's sorry he's embarrassed his friends, teammates, the University, and his mom, dad and family.
If they were smart, in a couple of weeks they'd get a ton of swag at the bowl game, including sweats. But, as the famous philosopher Forrest Gump once said, Stupid is as stupid does.
FWIW re: Markese Stepp. How and why he signed with USC is explained in this excerpt from an article in the Indy Star written by Kyle Neddenriep:
ND <t>Well I was having a great day. We finally get the TAX cut signed, the Irish are getting all 20 Commits of a really good class to sign and then two knuckleheads ruin everything for want of “sweatpants”? Damn😖</t>
Notre Dame <t>Well it looks like LSU will be down three starters on defense for the bowl game to. Two LBs and an edge rusher.</t>
As for the class and the video I've seen of them, we've got some real players coming in that seem to fit what we're doing. By that, I mean you can see that these guys are picked to fit the system that we have in place as opposed to getting guys who are just great, but maybe not the best fit. (ala Auburn QB recruiting for the past several years)
Notre Dame <r>Rivlas has our class at #6, 247 has it #8 and our always ND friendly ESPN friends have us at #10. Of course subject to change as Feb signing days comes.<br/> <br/> No bad though. Not bad at all. <E></E></r>
Notre Dame <t>This is probably going to happen anyway but.....as much as I like Stepherson on the field he needs to go if the accusations are true. Just too many incidents.</t>
