Justin Brent, 6'3" WR from Speedway HS, Speedway, IN (yes, the home of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway), recruit class of 2014, has committed to ND. I don't get excited about commitments two recruiting years away, but I'll be keeping an eye on this local kid as long as he remains on board.
Terry, basketball player Gary Harris was a top HS recruit coveted by ND and several elite programs. He committed to Michigan State. Is that who you are thinking of?
I was thinking of Nick McCarty who went to Cathedral, I was mistaken that he's from Fisher, he's from Nobelsville a little further north from Fishers. Kids from there have a nice drive to get to Cathedral High don't they. Thanks
I guess I should have heard of Nick McCarty, but I haven't. Tell me about him. And yes, it's a long drive to Cathedral from Noblesville, but there are kids who attend Cathedral who live farther away.
Here is a good piece on him Sid. Nick McCarty He is of course going to Notre Dame, while his High School teammate who graduated a year ahead of him, Dillon Peters was a freshman pitcher at Texas last year. Not often Texas gets a kid from out of state, too much talent in the state to bother looking elsewhere.
Terry, I know Cathedral has a good program, but I did not know about this kid. I'll bet Brian is well aware of him. He follows all Cathedral's sports. Cathedral is in the same 4-team sectional (1st level in the state tournament) as Roncalli. My oldest grandson was on Roncalli's freshman baseball team this past season. Roncalli had beaten Cathedral convincingly early in the season, but Cathedral had a much better record. Cathedral was upset in its first game by Warren Central (Sheldon Day's HS), and Roncalli ended up winning the sectional. Roncalli then advanced all the way to the state championship game and lost 1-0.
I hope we're posting these articles so we can cite them later to justify a BCS spot in the unlikely event of a miracle. You know how the media tends to turn on us when we do make a 9 or 10 win run. That being said.. How the hell do we have a qb controversy? Everything about this program right now (aside from recruiting can be summed up in one word: indecision Sid can sigh, and people can cite all the blue chip talent being brought in... but right now, when I look at where and how we've lost games these past few years under Kelly, it's indecision that kills us.
 The QB spot is the key to everything. I don't care who the quarterback is as long as I see him do this. - Don't turn the ball over. - Run the offense efficiently. - Score in the red zone. - Lead by example.
I'm starting to see rumors that Tee Shepard is desperately trying to get back into ND. There has been so much speculation about why he left ND, offically it was a health issue. But that seems to be a coverup. Unoffically I see a lot of people say that he was never admitted or had academic issues from the start. Pete Sampson posted some of his tweets recently. Hate to bring this up again, but maybe there really is something going on here behind the scenes. For the last few weeks he's been telling people he's trying to get back to ND, and he's been tweeting about ND a ton lately. Here are 4 of his last 5 tweets... @ItsTeeShepard: Good afternoon #NDNation Everybody have a blessed day >> Remember..let's pray!!! @ItsTeeShepard: Last thing I can remember >> "Play Like A Champion Today" @ItsTeeShepard: I'm trying >> Hang in there! @ItsTeeShepard: #ND Could be nothing, but this all started happening out of the blue within the last few weeks. If you remember the video posted by Tim Gentry of Tee was pretty inspiring and I know I was excited about him coming to ND...then it all went wrong. His cousin flakes out to Houston and then Tee has a supposed health issue and withdraws, next I hear he's talking to USC, then I hear UCLA and then supposedly Fresno State...now this. He's definitely a talent and if he really wants to be at ND and has done or will do what ever is necessary academically, which more and more seems like the issue, to get back then that is a big win at a position of need.
Tee <t>well if this kid(Shepard) is sincere about wanting to come back to ND I hope he makes it. maybe some day we'll know the whole truth.</t>

Tommy Rees pleas out. 30 days suspended, 2 charges dropped, 50 hours community service, 11 months probation. Next bridge to cross will be Res Life, which is much more reasonable these days. Floyd did not recieve a game suspension, although he lost his captaincy and was suspended from the team for the Spring and Summer. Did not miss a game. If Rees is suspended for 1 game (or more) it sort of makes Kelly's job easier in a way. He doesn't have to be tempted to make Rees the starter for the 1st game.
I hope this isn't in bad taste. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/y7zxIJrUVlY" frameborder="0"></iframe>
