I give Swarbrick high marks in general, and he really did a great job with this deal. I imagine that our having the biggest contract in college will be somewhat short lived as other schools will use our number as a bargaining chip when their contracts are up for renewal.

Duluth Minnesota is not part of the Iron Range. The Range starts north of Duluth up by Hibbing and on up to Canada. I've never met a Duluthian who would great you with anything shy of a slap and contempt if you tried to convince them they were part of the Range.

It's a really nice college hockey arena. The DECC is a great facility and the downtown complex atmosphere is fantastic. That is a WONDERFUL college town.

That being said... I can see that place being top 50 but not number 1

Irish Women beat Miami last night, handily. They were without their leading scorer in Jewel Lloyd who might miss their game with top 10 Maryland on the road.

In football recruiting the focus is on several kids who can play NG. Sawyers, Mokwoauh and Cage are the 3 they are after. Still in it with McKenzie and a CB from Louisana named Alexander.

Add the kid from ny and subtract Yeargin a kid who has been a shaky verbal for a while. Most think it will be a net gain

My name is George. And I'm a recovering recruitaholic.

    "Hi George ! "

Take it from me, the time to start following this stuff is around August 1, when summer practice starts. Just look at the active roster. Then you will know who is on the team.

Lorenzo Booker was my breaking point. Then I has my epiphany and was startled to realize that I was all agitated by the whims of a 17 year old kid whom I've never met.

I knew I was cured when Eddie Vanderhoosel signed then reneged for UCLA and I reacted by yawning.

I have been clean now for many years .

You have it right George, but I haven't completely got it out of my system. Thank goodness signing day is only about 12 days away.

Kolin Hill a DE/OLB commit from Texas is supposedly at risk right now. He originally wanted to go to Texas but Mack Brown passed on him told him he was too small, so when Kelly offered he took the offer. Now Strong has decided to bring him to Austin again and the word is that he'll likely get an offer from Strong. He supposedly told the ISD staff he's still a ND commit, but next weekend all that could change if he has a great visit and gets an offer.

Irish Women on the road again tonight vs another top 10 foe in Maryland. Pulled out the win on a Kayla McBride jumper...stone cold shooter!

<t>Looks like we will hoid onto Hill. sources say he will not visit Texas and is staying firm to his ND commitment. signing day is still a week away so who knows? after that we have spring and summer before he shows up on campus. I'll have to see if he has girlfriend going to college somewhere else and if he has any sick relatives. [/i]</t>

Looks like the plans for a stadium renovation are beginning to come out. A new press box will be built above and even with the east wall. I think some sort of boxes will be built on the west side where the current press box is. Two large video screens will also be installed, however the north end will be open to allow a view of the library mural. The south video will be on a building attached to the stadium that will contain some academic areas. With 3 sides having higher vertical structures it should increase the noise inside the stadium.
I believe field turf was also approved by the BOTs in their meeting in Rome.

I'm fine with the video boards, and the Field Turf although I would prefer grass but I understand that the number of Northern schools with real grass is dwindling. I'm also not a Jumbotron fan but it's not a big deal to me as long as they don't go the kiss cam and taco bell commercials route.

Are they going to reduce the parking around the stadium inorder to add these upgrades? It's too bad green and red field had to go, but I understand that hey needed the land for new dorms and academic buildings. Tailgating around the stadium is one of the neat things about ND gameday. At Texas there is tailgating but it's away from the stadium, people still have fun for sure but it's much more collegiate at ND.

That all sounds good to me. Anyone who has been to ND Stadium, tell me with a straight face that you don't reflexively look skyward for a Jumbotron everytime there is a big play or controversial call.

The jumbotron and field turf ( with proper logos ) will go a long way to making the venue a tough place to play for visitors.
