    re: Rosen

Josh Rosen is a GREAT HS QB too and Stanford will get a good one. I think it can be said without qualification that Rosen is exactly what Stanford is looking for and Barnett is exactly what Notre Dame is looking for. To top it off, Stanford is Rosen's dream school and Notre Dame is Barnett's dream school. Since they BOTH will play against USC, the future looks wonderful to me!

    re: St. John Bosco HS

St. John Bosco won the state title last year in the highest division and may have been the greatest high school team to ever play here. They went 16-0 and had 22.......that's not a typo........22 players offered D-1 scholarships! Along the way they slaughtered such powers as:
    Clovis North (Fresno)
    Chandler (Chandler, Arizona)
    Loyola (Los Angeles)
    Crenshaw (Los Angeles)
    Santa Margarita
    Serra Catholic
    Mater Dei (TWICE!)
    Tesoro
    Alemany
    Centennial
    De La Salle (Concord, CA)

That last one is the winningest program in state history and it was the only close game that Bosco played. Not only did Bosco have Rosen at QB, but Damien Mama wasn't even their biggest lineman. I've never seen a team as loaded as Bosco was last year...

    re: Hendrix

I never gave Hendrix my big seal of approval. I just said that he was the best athlete among the QBs that we had and I wanted to see him get his chance. He had his chance and he got beat out. His main goal is to be a doctor anyway and that was his priority. It's not a surprise that he was eventually beat out by the son of a football coach, who's priority was football...

    re: Hendrix

Barnett is much taller, much faster and he has a big-time cannon for a throwing arm. He's simply a much better prospect.

Compare Blake Barnett with another QB from his neighborhood in Corona: Taylor Martinez (Centennial HS, Corona, CA). Barnett is several inches taller, has a MUCH better arm and is just as fast a runner, but can also run with power. Nobody (except Nebraska) offered Martinez a scholarship. EVERYBODY wants Barnett...

Good News...Irish beat Clemson tonight in OT. Freshman Steve Vasturia hit a couple of 3 pointers in the OT to key the win.

Bad News....Brey announced that 5* freshman Demetrius Jackson will not be with the team for the remainder of the season to concentrate on academics.

Cody Riggs, the former UF DB will be visiting ND tomorrow and the gurus think that it's very likely that if everything goes well that he will come to ND for his last year.

I think from what I have read that besides our highly rated B-School that he want's to play CB and I assume that Kelly and Van Gorder will have to convince him that he will play CB and not pull a switcheroo when he arrives and move him to safety. I'm not sure if he is going to visit Texas as he has a connection with Strong and Texas DCoord Vance Bedford.

Also I don't know if anybody even knows this but Joe Theisman was named the Walter Camp Foundation "Distinguished American" for 2013. He joins Sleepy Jim Crowley (1st winner), Fr. Ted, and Regis as the other Notre Dame Alums to win the award. Interesting company for Joe.

Before Super Beta he wouldn't have made it through the ceremony. Would have been in the can when they announced the winner! :)

I see that the Cincinnati QB, Munchie Legaux, 6'5" and 200 lbs., has been granted another year of eligibility because of a "gruesome" knee injury. I wonder where Gunner Kiel will transfer to this time.

I hope Gunner eventually succeeds, at some point he has to step up and beat out the competition though.

BTW: Fla Transfer Candidate Cody Riggs did not make it to ND due to the weather. I didn't know that he was Bobby Brown was his uncle, we all remember that penalty Brown got at the Big House for making a fraternity sign after a late TD catch by him put the Irish ahead. Another thing I didn't know was how academically oriented Brown was, after graduation from ND and his NFL career he returned and got a Law degree from ND and followed that up with a MBA from Yale. Lives and works in NYC now and is very successful.

I see that Munchie will not be ready for Spring and "hopes" to be ready for the fall. Lots of opportunity for Gunner to establish himself as the top guy.

Irish Men get a much needed road win vs BC today. Almost let it get away in the final minute after seemingly having it sewed up. Fouling a 3 pt jump shooter, never a good idea....shades of the Ohio State game.

Irish Hockey has a tie and a win vs Providence this weekend also on the road.

Irish Mens baseball goes 1-2 vs top 25 FAU in Fla

Irish Softball takes down ranked Louisviile and have a 5-0 start

Irish Tennis takes down the #12 ranked Gators right here in Houston, in the National Indoors. It was in the losers division as the Irish lost to #1 ranked UVa in the opening, but then rallied to beat #9 Miss State and #12 UF.

    Lacrosses is also underway now.

Irish women will be on Big Monday vs Ga. Tech tomorrow night.

Oh yeah, the ESPN announcers said the Demetrius Jackson will be back with the team Monday. If you remember they sat him down for academics, so I thought he was gone for the year. But I wonder if with the problems that Golson, Daniels and Grant had, if the academic advisiors are watching the kids closer and intervening early to get them back on track before they get in a position (of their own making) where they might be tempted to take a short cut that costs them big time. If so then kudos, it also sends the right message IMHO, that you have to take care of your academics or you could be sat down.

Now with that said, I'm sure that is something that some kids won't like and could be used against us in recruiting. But that's fine with me, I want more stories like Toryan Smith who after his ND/NFL career went to ND Law and Yale Business school.

I saw a good report on Golson the other day, an "unidentified" freshman DB commented that he was a fan of Tommy Rees, but that in their independent workouts so far that Golson has really been on target and showed him a very strong and accurate arm. I hope he's studying as well! :)

Former Gator DB, Cody Riggs, will enroll at Notre Dame. He and I will both be shocked if he's not the starting corner back for the Irish vs Rice.

Good pickup. Defense just got better.

You got a good player in Riggs. He was our starting safety but wanted to play CB. He has graduated so can play immediately.

    Good get by you guys.

2 programs headed in different directions. Irish Womens Basketball and Irish Mens basketball. Irish Women handled Duke easily to continue their unbeaten streak, and have only UNC at home and NCState on the road left in the regular season.

Irish Men lost again on the road to UVA. Unlikely to have a post season.

Irish Hockey finished strong beating B.U. twice this weekend. both of them shutouts. Last game of regular season is at B.C. this Friday, then the Hockey East tourney. They are probably on the bubble and need a win or two in the HE tourney to make the NCAA's.

Don't worry, Spring football is just around the corner. <br/>
    <br/>
Since the one and done stuff started, I just don't have the enthusiasm I once had for college basketball so....if the Irish and Hoosiers win good. If not, no biggie for me. <br/>

Spring football practice starts in about 10 days!!</t>
