I wonder if a dumbass reporter asked about it. Reading through that almost seemed like a question answer conference. Maybe not.
Was a question answer session; 2nd point or so he said “So I had mentioned earlier in the week, got asked a similar question, and I remember being the offensive coordinator at Kansas State in 2007”
Another tough 1 point loss for the Irish tonight, on the road at NC State. Had the last shot to win and it didn't go down for Markus Burton.
Finally finished my breakfast. Man, that was a lot of words to eat. I was so wrong about this team and it's inability to perform in the playoffs. It was a night when our bench filled in and did a great job. Expecting a team to lose 2 O linemen and continue to stand up against a D with future pros should be too much to ask. Yet Jagusah and Josh Baker stood strong. I don't remember hearing Baker's name all season. And Jeremiyah you belong with Sonic and Knuckles on my Lions team. And last, my apologies to Jeter who I nicknamed Dr. Strangefoot earlier in the season. Man you were clutch last night. We're playing with house money. Few expected us to make it to the championship game. We'll probably be more than a TD underdog. So what. We may have destiny behind us.
I agree with gipper's two words, So what? I feel we've won already by playing our way into the final game, beating 3 top ten teams with a combined 36 wins in 2024. I'm not as concerned about whether we win or lose as I am that we play as competitively as Penn State did against us last night.
Blasphemy! You have to win it all. Freeman has done a great job, he needs to finish off this season with a W.
Kyle, I want to agree with you, but after after 60+ years (including my time at ND) listening to haters criticize our program whether we're up or down - we've been down for a long time - I feel complete vindication after last night's game. Most of our good regular seasons of the past 30+ years ended in disastroous losses in bowl games. I love this coaching staff and am thankful that they've gotten us to this point. Absolutely I want one more to end the 36 year NC drought, and if it doesn't happen, I'll be very sad, even frustrated. However, I'll take comfort knowing that the proverbial "There's always next year" no longer is a sad but hopeful lament. It's an assertive statement that we're back at or close to the top of college football and a force to be reckoned with.....and we're not going away. That's a nice feeling. If we win our next game, it will be even nicer.
Sure, Kyle. I understand. Your bar is much higher, as it should be. Alabama is the gold standard, well earned. I hope that ND will be on the same level someday.
So if we tweeked our unis a little bit making them say....maize and went for blue with maize stripes on our helmets, do you think the buckeyes would crap in their shorts?
Irish announce several portal additions, Kicker, and a couple of DL's. One of which is a undergrad transfer, which is unusual for the Irish. But it's reported he's an outstanding student at USC in their Business School
Irish pick up a safety from Va.Tech, Jalen Stroman. Al Golden will likely use Stroman in a variety of positions as he can play either safety position and nickel back. In 2023, the Virginia native played 128 snaps in the box, 112 at nickel and 138 at free safety. Notre Dame will lose Xavier Watts and Rod Heard II to the NFL, which means there is an opening for Stroman to earn a starting spot next to Adon Shuler. He will join a room of youth as sophomores Ben Minich and Luke Talich haven’t cracked the rotation, and freshmen Taebron Bennie-Powell and Tae Johnson were slowed by injuries. Freshman Kennedy Urlacher has flashed, but with Stroman in the fold, Notre Dame won’t have to throw him to the wolves. Stroman also comes from a football family as his older brother starred at Virginia Tech and is currently on the New York Giants after spending time with Chicago and Washington. Notre Dame has now signed two defensive backs from the Transfer Portal as Stroman joins former Alabama defensive back DeVonta Smith in South Bend.
