I'm pretty happy with Alabama's football 97 GSR and overall GSR 96. Hopefully, NIL doesn't damage that.
I would be as well, we've come a long way in terms of graduating players all across college sports. I don't think there was ever a problem with minor sports, those kids don't have a pay day waiting on the pro-level. Football and Basketball were different due to leaving early for the Pros.
Irish men had a bad loss last night to Elon, a Colonial Athletic Assn team, and one picked 12th in the league pre-season. They out shot us, out rebounded us, and out hustled us. This might not be as bad as the loss to The Citadel last year but it's close. A cold reminder that we've still got a long way to go to be a good team. Next up is a trip to Las Vegas where we'll be in with 3 ranked teams, RU, Alabama, and Houston. Could be a brutal weekend for the lads. Today a big game for the Irish women in L.A. vs USC who is ranked #3 and loaded.
Irish women went to USC today and got a big win. Miles and Hildalgo combined for 44 of our 74-61 win.
I know we have more talent than Army by HS recruit rankings, but I still fear the Army. Those guys are going to come out ready to play and while Navy is their biggest rival, the Irish are a team they want to beat very badly. I see that Howard Cross III will not play tonight, and against an Army team that is very good running the football that will make life a bit tougher for the Irish defense. Next man up. Go Irish.
Irish up 28-7 at the half and get the bqll to start the second half. Miss a FG at the end of the half, we are in trouble for FG kicking that's for sure.
I'm starting to sip the koolaid. Our patched up O line looks pretty good. Our running backs are wonderful. Our D is top 5. With the exception of our FG kicker, our special teams are good. If we can get good production out of our average passing attack, we could actually win one playoff game.
Irish women's soccer took down #1 seed Mississippi State in Starkvegas last night 2-0 to move on to the elite 8 and will travel to Palo Alto to face Stanford next weekend. They played Stanford during the season at Alumni Field and won 3-0
USC week. At one time it was the biggest intersectional rivalry and was always on TV. It's still big to ND fans and it's a game the Irish have to win to finish off the season and get to the CFP. USC has always been a very talented squad, getting the best of the So.Cal talent. They have a lot of College HOF players and a lot of All-Americans. This current squad is talented and they have been in all their losses, just not able to close out the game. They benched Miller Moss a couple of games ago and now have a portal kid who is more dual threat, excellent athlete and has a strong arm. This will be a challenge for the Irish. Marcus Freeman had this to say.... Moving forward to USC, it's a very competitive, talented football team, and this could truly be our biggest challenge to date, for multiple reasons — for the reasons of the noise and the things that outside of this game, that have nothing to do with this game. That's gonna be a reason why it's a challenge, but because of how good this team is in terms of in relation to its record. They have a 6-5 record. They're 3-1 in the last four games. They have one loss at home, and it was the overtime loss to Penn State. They've led in the fourth quarter in every game this year. I think four to five losses, they were leading within three minutes of the end of the game. "It's gonna be a challenge, vs. a really good team, and we have to prepare in a way that gives us an opportunity to get the outcome that we want. But our guys will and must understand the challenges ahead of us. So with that, I'll open up for questions."
The Irish get dinged (rightfully) for their easy schedule this year, and yes of course the loss to NIU. But we're not the only ones who have exactly had Georgia like schedule. In The Athletic’s mock bracket, including those on the bubble, only Indiana (No. 68), Tulane (No. 85) and Boise State (No. 89) are worse than Notre Dame (No. 65) in the Sagarin schedule strength metric. But it’s not like other top teams haven’t played similarly so-so schedules. Oregon (No. 52), Tennessee (No. 57) Ohio State (No. 58), SMU (No. 59) and Miami (No. 61) aren’t exactly testing themselves every week.
Irish ladies follow up their big win L.A. with a trip to the Caymans for a 2 game series with a very good TCU squad and Utah who just lost their coach to the L.A. Sparks. The Men head to Las Vegas for a very difficult 3 game swing vs Rutgers, Houston and Alabama. I'll be surprised if we win any of those games.
