It's reported that NBC and Notre Dame have extended their relationship another 5 years. Publicaly no dollar amount has been put on the new deal, but I have seen speculation that it's 65M. That would be great, not as much as Big10 and SEC teams but still a lot of money. A well-deserved recognition of Coach Muffet McGraw will be coming in Dec. She's getting a Statue outside the Joyce Center. SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The name Muffet McGraw has already been etched in the book of Notre Dame athletics history. Now, there will be physical representation on campus as well. Prior to Notre Dame’s game against Purdue on Dec. 17, a statue of McGraw will be unveiled outside of the entrance to the Joyce Center. McGraw served as the Irish women’s basketball coach for 33 seasons from 1987-2020, made nine Final Fours, and won two national titles. Notre Dame’s championships under McGraw earned distinction as collegiate sports lore in their own right, from Ruth Riley converting two free throws in the final seconds in 2001 to Arike Ogunbowale’s “Ice Twice” heroics in 2018. Adding to the storybook tales, both championship wins took place on Easter Sunday.
The women are playing Chicago State at home and to say that they are running away from them is a bit of an understatement. There is 5 minutes left in the 3rd qtr and all 8 players have scored and we are up 75-22.

Interesting comments from Wake Forrest coach Dave Clawson. Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson isn't exactly thrilled with the send-off his former quarterback is getting at Notre Dame. Clawson's Demon Deacons played at Notre Dame on Saturday, where the Fighting Irish honored Sam Hartman during his final home game in South Bend, Indiana. Clawson, however, wasn't so sure that moment warranted a celebration. Notre Dame "only dated" Hartman, Clawson said Tuesday, noting that Wake Forest recruited and developed the quarterback over five seasons."[Notre Dame] bought him and rented him for a year, and now they love him?" Clawson said. "This is where college football is." Wake coach perplexed by ND 'love' for Hartman
I understand his feelings completely. He is correct and the Irish will have many similar experiences of its own going forward in the wild west world of NIL and the portal. Wake made Hartman a college QB. Notre Dame made him a millionaire. End result? More of the same.
I understand his frustration losing his outstanding QB, but his comments were unnecessary, inappropriate, petty, and disrespectful. I would think he'd be mature enough to exercise restraint but apparently not.
I was listening to coach K on his ESPNU show after this whole immediate eligibility and NIL stuff came out and he predicted that what was goingto happen is that players would leave Mid Majors or lower level Power 5 teams if they develop as Freshman/Sophs for high profile programs and NIL money. That's what is going on as he predicted. Sam Hartman was a prime example. One thing to point out to Coach Clawson, who I admire for the job he has done, is that Sam Hartman was not coming back to Wake Forrest he was going to the NFL if he doesn't come to ND. On other things, I watched the ND Women go to Muncie to play Ball State and have a wire to wire 31 point win. 31 point win with 30 turnovers!! Next up is a huge game, they go to Knoxville to take on the Lady Vols in the SEC/ACC challenge.
Irish lead 28-16 at the half, but it hasn't been easy. We've turned the ball over 3 times. Hartman with a pick and a fumble and we also fumbled a kick return after a pretty good run back. Right now it's been the running game that has done the job though, we have 238 yards rushing and only 83 yards passing. It was a bit odd that Estime who has a great game going, was not in when it was 3rd and 1 inside the 5 yard line, J'bari Payne got the call and initially was called for a fumble on the goal line. But video show he clearly scored before the ball came loose. After that the camera caught an exchange between Estime and Freeman that didn't look friendly.
Irish cruise in the 2nd half to a 56-23 win at Palo Alto. Audric Estime ran for 238 yards and 4 TD's. Sam Hartman's last pass as an ND player? TD pass to freshman lacrosse player Jordan Faison. Thing of beauty. We had a blocked FG returned for a TD, but the Ohio State transfer Jean-Baptiste who has been a great addition to the team on defense. Where will we play next? Most think it will be one of the Florida games with either a B12 or SEC opponent. Good end to the season. Now we have the signing date mid-December to look forward to seeing who will be our freshman class. Also in the next couple of weeks guys will be announcing for the NFL or the Portal. It will be interesting to see who is leaving.
Tomorrow the Irish Men's Soccer plays Western Michigan in the round of 16 at Alumni Stadium. Irish are the #2 overall seed and favored. Still have to play the match of course.
Well like I said before it’s Stanford Stadium and again crazy things happen. We win big but at the start of the game it was totally frustrating that we keep t finding ways to keep Stanford in the game. They did cover the spread.
It seems likely that the OCoord is going to be fired, at least the fans want him fired. Last 2 games over 100 points.
This is great news. It's evidence of both successful DB recruiting and successful coaching. Of course, it also means that Mike Mickens and Chris O'Leary likely will be targets of other programs. Also re: DC Al Golden, with all the HC openings, I'll be surprised if we're not looking for a new DC in the near future.
Yes it is good news, and it will be interesting to see what staff changes are going to happen. Certainly Golden will have opportunity to move on, everyone thinks that he would like to go back to the NFL. Who knows about the other defensive staff. The offensive staff though is where everyone is focusing on the what changes might happen.
A tweet by Pete Sampson, presumably relating to the status of our OC: "Marcus Freeman cites the example Luke Fickell had with him during his first year as a defensive coordinator at Cincinnati. The Bearcats finished 90th in defense that season and Fickell stuck with Freeman that offseason." It just breaks my pea pickin' heart that the anti-OC folks on the ND boards may have a group meltdown similar to the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz".
