Thirty years ago, the 2:56 lead-in to one of the greatest games ever played by ND. Unfortunately, the next game was one of the biggest disappointments:
The one thing that sticks out to me about Wake Forrest, who is 1-6 in the ACC and on a 3 game losing streak, is that only FSU has been able to score 30 points on them. With our offensive woes, we are going to need the defense and special teams to make some noise on the scoreboard.
Irish women took care of Northwestern handily in the home opener, but the cost was very high. One of the best players in America, Sonia Citron, was injured in the 3rd qtr and had to be helped from the court. It is probably an ACL. She was having a great game. She is so talented and it will be impossible to replace her. We are a relatively deep team so we will have a good player to take her spot, but not an AA like Sonia.
Irish men played Auburn tough the 1st half and then got schooled in the second half. Awful 3 point shooting, 2-26 from beyond the arc. Irish fans are going to need a lot of patience this year.
Irish Men's basketball got a nice win today in OT over B12's Oklahoma State 66-64. The Women take on Illinois in the Citi Classic in DC tomorrow. Still no word on Sonia Citron's injury.
A lot to like about this game, but also some head scratchers. After that brilliant special teams call to do go for the onside kick and recovering it, what the heck was that 3 and out sequence of plays? I was a bit worried after we go 3 and out to start the game, and that one drive that Wake had to tie the game at 7-7 I was going wtf about the defense. But eventually we wore them down and Sam had an excellent game and so did Audric Estime. Glad to see Stever Angeli get the 4th qtr reps and do a bit more than just hand off the ball. Now lets have a great Thanksgiving weekend in Palo Alto. Don't forget you have to have a Sling TV or FUBO subscription to watch it.
Ladies got a nice win over Illinois today in DC. Super Frosh Hannah Hildalgo had another great game. Good news, Sonia Citron does not have an ACL, knee sprain and should be back in 2-3 weeks.
My favorite part of the game was after the end, when Sam Hartman was trying to end his on-field interview so he could get to the players and coaches for the alma mater in front of the student body. From everything I've seen, read, and heard, he's thoroughly enjoyed his ND experience. Class guy.
I think I have seen -16.5 for the Irish. I don't know why I worry about this game, Stanford isn't very good to be kind. They are 3-8 and have had given up 42,41, 62, and 27 in the last 4 losses. But I am given how you just don't know how our offense will show up in Palo Alto. One thing they won't have to worry about is going into a hostile environment like at Clemson and Louisville, they probably will have more ND fans in the stands than Stanford fans.
From the clips of the last couple of games I’ve watched you are probably right there. I have some bad memories of games out there and the loss last year at SB. ND should win this but we should have won a couple of other games this year to. You can’t overlook anyone. Need to keep that QB in check and lots of pressure he’s got a pretty good arm.
We should win of course, and most of the talk is about will Freeman fire Parker and who should we bring in, I've seen some say that Skip Holtz would be a good hire. Maybe he would, I don't know. He's an analyst at Northwestern and some think he's been one of the reasons that they have been able to pick themselves up and have a good season. The other thing is Al Golden, will he go back to the NFL, will he be offered a HC job and take it? Who's coming back? There are a lot of possibilities, some might portal, some might go to the NFL or some might just move on to life after football. Freeman said they are going to look at portal QB's as he wants 4 scholarship qB's and he'll only have 3 if he doesn't. But bringing in another QB from the portal could also result in Angeli moving on or even Minchey. Nobody knows. It used to be a much simpler transition from one year to the next. Now we could have a huge turnover on the coaching staff. If they bring in a new OCoord, will he want to bring his own guys esp at OL coach. Where will we end up for the bowl game. A lot of predictions that we'll end up with LSU in one of the Florida bowls. I think that's a bad matchup for us. How about who will opt out of the bowl game? Will Sam Hartman play? What about Joe Alt and Blake Fisher? Audric Estime? Kyren Williams didn't play. Lots going on in the next month, almost like playing Stanford is just an after thought.
If it is LSU you can expect them to have a lot of opt-outs starting with their QB. I'm hoping Golden stays one more year. I don't think he will leave for a College team but maybe NFL.
