Some times even smart guys make dumb calls. Riley who is thought of as one of the premier offensive minds, previously had a great call on 4th and 1 with Williams taking off around the end and he's a big enough kid to do the traditional QB sneak So the next 4th and one he goes to the shotgun and tries a sort of zone read I guess and Bertrand tackles both the QB and RB. I don't know why he called that play, when he had such a good option with Williams under center. Glad he did though.
Wow didn't see this coming, another pick by the Irish at mid field. Irish offense drives the 50 yards with a nice selection of plays and get the score. Irish up 24-3.
SC gets a FG as time expires and we go to half 24-6 Irish. As I said I didn't see this coming. But that USC offense is so explosive that we can't sit back and try to play prevent defense. Offense has to put up some more points and the defense has to keep pressuring Williams.
I never thought of that gip, but everybody else seems to have picked up on that. Is it still a rule that a half can't end on a penalty on the defense, so wouldn't it have resulted in an untimed play for USC? A FG attempt for sure.
Totally different team from last week. Notre Dame's defense is making Williams look ordinary. Well he actually looks kind of like Hartmann did last week.
I'll give Williams credit, he makes some plays that only Patrick Mahomes can make, he can make so many throws from all angles. Plus USC has recievers who can get open.
SC goes for it on 4th and 9 inside their own 20 and Williams is sacked. Irish take over in the redzone. We should score again and that will be it.
I was hoping to push it in and make it 45-20, but it's a FG and the Irish are up 41-20 with under 4 minutes to go.
That old guy with a perm wearing a USC hoodie whom Caleb is talking with on the sideline has one of the worst dye jobs I have ever seen.
