Well there have always been some oddities in who gets to play for the big prize. I remember OU losing the B12 Champ game and still getting to play for the NC, I remember the Huskers losing the B12 Champ game and not getting to play. I remember a LSU team with 2 losses and one of them a late season loss and getting to play, and of course there was the all SEC BCS game.

Bottom line is that our current system will allow subjectivity to creep into it. I think that there certainly could be 2 SEC teams and I think that while it's not written down anywhere the SEC Champ will be one of the teams almost no matter what, and there certainly could be another SEC team. I could see a 1 loss OU team not getting in where a 1 loss Alabama/LSU would get in. I could see a 1 loss ND not getting in and other combos. I think that it is unlikely and maybe never has been more than a couple of undefeated teams so I doubt seriously if we'll see a senario where an undefeated ND or Power 5 team not get in. But instead the controversy will be with 1 loss teams which there certainly could be more than 4.

Sid, no problem at all. I was pretty sure you did, I tried the wink thingy but sometimes on the internet it is difficult to convey the real tone. 8)

you and everyone else here are probably right. I take all things too seriously when it comes to ND football and I keep forgetting that no matter what the topic is here, it's always open to comments from fans of other teams which can be light hearted innocent jabs and no real malice was intended. Unfortunatly, I do tend to take negative comments from fans of other teams seriously. That's me and I'm too old to change now. ND football is one of my real passions in life. For that reason, this really probably is not the board I should be posting on when I want to have serious conversations with other ND fans. Maybe I should have realized that a long time ago.</t>

Kind of hard to me how kp's remark couldn't have been taken as light hearted, heck if I had the right post he even included a smiley face.

I still remember the old Prodigy where the Notre Dame topics and the Tennessee topics were always plentiful and for the most part the fans of those two groups were always open for outsiders, like myself, to take part.

And the togetherness of the Notre Dame group was very instrumental in getting this site going.

One thing I always wanted to do was go to South Bend sometime when the Irish fans from Prodigy/Skybox had their annual get together. But alas it was not to be.

But to the discussion late in this topic about the playoff. I do think that with the way things have gone in recent years about the only way at least one SEC team would not go is if there was a team with 2-3 losses that made the SEC Championship game from one of the divisions then won. As I recall that happened in the Big 12 in 96 when a four loss Texas Team beat a one loss Nebraska team in the Championship game.

This was one of two miracles for the one loss Florida Gators who then beat Alabama in the SEC Championship game and got an invite to the Sugar Bowl to play FSU who had beaten us in Tallahassee. We were ranked 3rd in that game behind FSU and Arizona State who was obligated to go to the Rose Bowl. Then miracle number two when Ohio State upset Arizona State setting up Florida and FSU to play for the BCS Championship.

We got our revenge 52-20 and out polled Ohio State for number 1.

Had to get that our, but some similar situation is how the SEC could get left out.

Come on Tim, I doubt you are older than Sid, Don Ballard, me or others on this board. And we can all adjust a little. I saw plenty of serious discussion here reading through this topic and the direction it took off toward the end just really included more Skybox folks and really didn't hurt anything. <br/>

And I sure don't see any reason for you to leave, just lighten up a little, smile and enjoy life. <E>:)</E> <br/>

I saw Cody Riggs name mentioned above. It surprised some of us Gators that he left. He was going to be one of the starting Safety's I believe, but wanted to play cornerback.

I think you got a good player and I wish him well.

    Tim,
No big deal. I'm sure I'll give you legitimate reasons to be pissed off at me in the future, so you may want to save up your energy for those moments. :D :) 8) :p

    Tim,

I assure you that I and others here are equally passionate about ND football, as are others about their programs, but you are correct in that this board is different from the others. Over time, as we've come to know each other, our conversations have become underscored by mutual respect. Yes, there are times when someone gets rubbed the wrong way. Lord knows I've been there. However, as time has passed, I've noticed that the tone here is much lighter and more relaxed than in the past. For me, it's just plain fun. I hope you can reconcile your passion for ND football with the respectful tone of the posts - including occasional light-hearted banter - and have fun with the conversations.

It's all over ND boards and Twitter. An ND employee/academic advisor helped some players cheat in the 2012 and 213 seasons. He/she turned themselves when her/his conscience started to bother him/her. 4 players are being dismissed and may already have been dismissed. Kevare' Russell, Ishaq Williams, Davrious Daniels and Kendall Moore are the rumored players.

All are players who we counted on this year. Kelly's job just got harder and ND's rep just got a little (more) tarnished by these players and the advisor.

Again no ND announcement but there is so much smoke out there now there has to be fire. I just hope the fire isn't bigger than we might imagine.

Well that just sucks, vacating wins so we've just this past season edged past Mich to get back to #1 in the all-time winning %...so kiss that good bye and we've just been barely ahead of Neb in total wins so with this we'll drop behind them and just barely ahead of Ohio State.

Terry and Other ND fams here on the Skybox,

Distressing news to say the least! We have been through this with somewhat similar situations involving key players here in Columbus.

Chin up and look down the road.

I read about this on both Sportsline and ESPN and neither mentioned forfeiting games. I hope for you sake it does not involve forfeits.

Other than that I agree with what Don said above.

Crap! Let's wait for the whole story to come out. Forfeiture of all those games would be determined by the NCAA wouldn't it? :?

On the BGI board some of the hard core are trying to figure out how to pin this on Urban Meyer. 8)

God damn it you assholes. Cheating at ND? You had a choice to go to FSU or USC, you chose ND. You had to know it would be tough. This just pisses me off. You have tutors. Change majors. Study. Do what you gotta, but adhere to the honor code.

You **** heads. Pat Forde ran wild with this story. I've seen crazy, naked men on PCP with more restraint running down a highway.

Just stupid ass trouble. I saw someone compare this to the situation at UNC... where they had an entire 'imaginary' department for athletes... so far, I don't see anything like that.
