    Practice Report:

    1. We practiced
    2. They showered after practice.
    3. They are all tucked neatly in their beds, no poker, clubs, hearts or other games of chance that corrupt young men.

    :)

    That is all.

They should consider themselves lucky. Once again, Jim Mora has taken his UCLA Bruins to my alma mater: Cal-State San Bernardino. It's located right here in the beautiful Mojave Desert, where it's usually 120 degrees this time of year. They got a break from the heat yesterday. We had electrical storms with flash flooding...

I think Stanley was just blowing chunks because the heat got to him. It takes the big boys a few practices to hold their mud.

They were pumping him full of fluids.

Freshman Daniel Cage a DT from Ohio seems to be somewhat of a sensation in early camp. Not only is he massive but apparently the kid has better than average foot speed for a DL.

Also I like Eric Hansen's article on Sheldon Day, looks like Sheldon has accepted the leadership mantle for the DL and is pissed off that everybody is saying the DL is the weak link. Good for him, as Sid always says leadership is so important on a football team. Sr. Leadership is the most important, but when I look at the Sr. class I'm not exactly sure where that leadership is going to come from so I'm glad to see Day step up as a Jr. Of course Nick Martin and Everett Golson are SR's and should be leaders it's just that they haven't shown that inclination in the past, but maybe they will step up, maybe Christian Lombard will step up. I think Tony Springman might have been a guy to step up but he's done with football unfortunately.

I'd link Hansen's article but the SBT has you answer a bunch of survey's inorder to read it so just go to the site and you'll find it, after you answer one of their surveys.

<t>From the looks of the videos I've seen, Culver looks like a pretty nice practice facility for the team.</t>

Culver Military Academy is a boarding school for the rich and somewhat famous, definitely the rich. George Steinbrenner was an alum.

I think between Day and Jaylon Smith, we definately have leadership on the Defensive side again. After Manti left, no one seemed to step up and I think that really hurt the team last year.</t>

I was listening to the Irish Illustrated Podcast last night and they were talking about Joe Schmidt and said that the perception by fans that Joe is a place holder till Nyles Morgan can get up to speed is wrong. They said there is a buzz about Joe and that he's going be a leader and likely the starter the whole season. He really understands the defense, and an excellent season is anticipated for him. That would be a great story, I'm rooting for him.

I have heard this before. No one knew how to stop the triple option. I hope Alabama sticks with defense first and an offense that, first does no harm, and second controls the football, and third scores with a big play. If others want to run a hurry up or whatever great, I believe great defense will continue to win championships.

history is on KP's side here. Even SOS' great teams had incredible defenses and the ability to pound the ball on the ground. Even his better teams at SCAR were not 'wing it all over' offenses, but rather had the ability to control the ball and clock.

He's a college kid. I forgive him, but I wonder if he will still be wearing that hairdo when his father, "the Admiral", visits the school on game days. The real Balotelli never had a father. That's how he could get away with that stuff.

    Re Balotelli Robinson..

****, I don't even know anymore. The Sane Train left the station ages ago. After Dennis Rodman, it all seems just kinda 'eh, whatever.'

Slightly off topic, from Eric Hansen of the South Bend Tribune:
