I kept thinking of Jonas Gray, he was a dancer for most of his career at ND, then a light bulb went off and he realized or was convinced that he was a power back with speed. Until the unfortunate knee injury he was having an awesome senior year. Same thing for Robert Hughes who didn't figure it out till he was a senior that he wasn't a "scat" back he was a power back and embraced it. His run for the TD in the final moments of Kellly's first game vs USC in the Colisieum was classic power back. I'm hoping GAIII doesn't need another year to figure it out.
Beacause Kelly has not signed a contract yet and seems enamored with the NFL, Bleacher Report has listed the Top 5 likely successors at ND if Kelly bolts after this season. Don't shoot me... I'm just the messenger. In most probably order they are: 1. Urban Meyer 2. Bill O'Brien 3. Tom Clements 4. Skip Holtz 5. Jim Tressel Have at it, boys!
1...Urban...not going to happen, never, ever. 2. Bill O'Brien ...they are grasping at straws here. O'Brien had a good year last year that's for sure. But he doesn't yet have the college experience that we should be looking for in a coach. 3. Tom Clements...I hope we learned our lesson with Pro Coordinators. 4. Skip Holtz...hopefully being Lou's son and a ND grad is only good enough to get him good seats at any game he wants. 5. Jim Tressel...Tressel can't really come back to college, he has something called a show cause dealy with the NCAA that basically puts any team he coaches on probation. Never going to happen at ND.
coach <t>Well my preference wound be NONE of those. Let's just hope Kelly is smart enough to stay exactly where he is at for about 10 more years. If I had to pick a replacement for him right now you don't have to look to far, Chuck Martin.</t>
8) Yes...we're down to just a few days until football season. Time to wake up Bobda! <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CfASU07tQM4?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Tim, JOCO.. Thanks. It can't get here soon enough. As for our Shamrock series uniforms, I hate them. Sure, they don't look like West Virginia at prom like last year's uniforms but is looking like Baylor on Meth really ever a good option? It's like saying you got 2 choices.. a turd sandwich with corn, or without. Either way, it's still a turd sandwich.
re: new Irish uniforms Here in Los Angeles, the evil Petros Papadakis is making his living as a talk radio personality. He's a former Trojan captain, so you can imagine what his comments are like. His family has owned the Greek restaurant (Papadakis Restaurant) near the Coliseum for generations and it has been the headquarters for Trojan recruiting for decades. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petros_Papadakis Petros comment on the new Irish uniforms was, "I wonder what the boy's team will wear? http://www.usctrojans.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/papadakis_petros00.html

Well it had to happen...injury. Nicki Barratti hurt his shoulder today and reportedly will miss the rest of fall camp and possibly the season. He had an excellent freshman year and I was really looking forward to seeing him play this fall.
Ouch. Safety is our deepest position, but I was really looking forward to seeing Nicky Baratti get more playing time. He looked fabulous last year as a true frosh...
Ouch <t>Well, I guess it had to happen to someone(Nicki Barratti). Hopefully he will be able to play sometime this season. Hopefully we don't have any more.</t>
