Mostly that they expect to lose, but think they have a chance if they can keep it close into the 4th qtr, they think they can run on the Irish and they think that Zaire might struggle.

Pat Haden sweeps it under the carpet. I wonder what would have happened to Brian Kelly if he'd put on a drunken show like that at a big ND function?

Well we lost out on Hunter Johnson, the 5 star QB from Indiana. He gave his verbal to Tenn. At one point a lot of people thought he was nearly a lock for ND. ND recruiting guru's say that Butch Jones was able to sell the family that there was a good chance that his QB(Sanford) and maybe even his HC (Kelly) would not be there for his career while he and his QB coach were not going anywhere.

<t>On Kelly: if he did the same as Sarkesian he would be gone.<br/>
    <br/>
On Johnson: he is a 2017 recruit so he won't be signing until a year from this coming Feb so it's a long way from being over with him. If Zaire does well he will probably be the starter next year followed by Wimbush for 3 years. If we have as good a season this year as I'm hoping, I'm not sure if it really matters. We'll get all the QBs we need. Frankly if he gave us a verbal now I'd be worried about trying to keep him on board for the next year and a half.</t>

Yeah it is a long way to Feb 2017 and a lot of things can happen. Looking at Winbush, Kizer and Zaire, Johnson is the least athletic of those maybe even less than Book. He has a great arm, and is very accurate and a lot of potential to be a big star in the right system. I could see him doing very well in the USC or Stanford system. I don't know what System the Vols run to tell you the truth, but if it's the right system he could do very well there also.

I'd like to get another guy like Winbush for Kelly's system.

Anna Hickey and Pete Sampson said they never felt Johnson was likely to come to ND, that Butch was the first guy to offer him and a long time before ND offered him so the he and the family just bonded with Jones. They did look long at ND and they really liked Mike Sanford a lot, but in the end they just liked Tenn better

    Good luck to him.

As I said I'm glad it happened early, still a lot of time to find a good QB who is a good fit for ND Football.

ND has 4-5 years of solid QBs in the fold. If this kid wants to play he made the right choice.

<t>So Sarkisian doesn't even get a one game suspension? Does that same application of discipline apply to players too? Come on Haden.</t>

1 game suspension...what? He said he was sorry and won't do it again. Why they even banned alcohol in the USC dressing room. :)

I wonder if he's the next Billie G the old A&M/Kentucky coach who drank himself out of a job finally.

Drue Tranquill...what to do with him? He's big, he's fast, is he a LB or is he a safety. I read this in the SBT:
The plan is to next year move him back to being a pure safety.

What I didn't know is that he is a Mech Engineering major at ND. That's pretty impressive, I think Tim Ruddy was the last guy I remember who was an Engineering major. I hope he can keep up both on the field and off the field. It'd be a great story for him to be a Sr. starter drafted in the NFL after receiving his Eng degree.

Looks like the plan is to not play Wimbush this year if at all possible. The following are excerpts from an article written by JJ Stankevitz for ND Insider:
He's wrong that 2018 will be Wimbush' redshirt sophomore season. It would be 2017, two seasons from now.

I guess it depends on how you read it regarding Zaire. He does have 3 years left, but that includes this year. So assuming he uses all of his eligibility up he will play 2015, 2016, 2017.

Kizer was a freshman last year so he has 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 left on his card.

Winbush of course will have 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 on his dance card.

So what's going to happen by 2017, that year Zaire could be starting again, and Kizer will be still sitting the bench and hoping to start as a 5th year Sr. in 2018. Wimbush would then would have only 2019 to be the starter.

None of that is going to happen. I can't see those guys all waiting that long to get to start only as 5th year Sr's. So injuries will factor into the equation of course, and so will performance on the field if they can get on the field. Zaire at this point doesn't have the game that would lead him to leave for the NFL early, not that it couldn't happen but it's not esp likely. He doesn't fit the NFL mold physically.

Transfers. Who will be the first guy to blink. It's the most likely thing to happen.

Video Boards at ND Stadium were announced today...ie jumbotrons. But the size won't break any records.

Also getting rid of wooden benches and standardizing on the modern butt at 18"....well the modern butt of a 12 y/o. :)
