Jones broke his foot last year after emerging as real force. He was questionable going into fall camp but Kelly said he was good to go but they were going to be careful with him. I guess he forgot to put the bubble wrap around him. Gone for the year is the rumor.

Next man ...Jerry Tillery. I guess will find out if he's the real deal.

    Injuries suck.

Amazing to me the number of key players that have gone down so far in the early practices across the board from various colleges. Injuries can wreck a program without too much trouble, even before you get a good start.

While your right on depth taking a hit I don't think either of the two who left could have helped us at the NT position. Somebody has to step up.</t>

Yeah Don even if you have a lot of depth like OSU and Alabama, still a key guy can really hurt unless the backup really steps up.

More bad news. C.J. Proisse tweaked his hip flexor and had to get a PRP injection. Will take about 10 day before he's 100%. RB depth is really thin now, freshmen and Justin Brent is what we have behind Folston and Procise.

Yes. Being used sparingly in practice as Prosise out with some sort of hip injury for a few days.</r>

Thanks, Terry. He's going to U. of Louisville to study engineering. They leave tomorrow. I know it will be tough on his mother, my daughter.

Larry Williams 2 time All American OL, ND '85, was named AD at Akron.

Maybe he's in the pipeline now, it'd be nice to always have a ND Alum heading our Ath. Dept. Gene Corrigan was an excellent AD even though he was not a ND Alum, Kevin White well what can I say except he seems to be doing a good job at Duke and Charlie Weis loves him. :)

<t>FINALLY! Russell is cleared to play. Can't believe how long the damn NCAA made this kid wait. Anyway, we have one of the top 5 defensive backfields in the nation ready to go!</t>

Joe Schmidt broke his thumb, supposedly not a bad break though. Playing with a cast and won't miss any time.

Re: Russell, glad he finally got cleared. I don't think it was ever much of a chance that he would not be cleared or Kelly and ND wouldn't have let him practice with the team. Ishaq isn't practicing with the team and he's a long shot to get cleared, apparently he's already been denied and is now down to writing a personal appeal. Don't count on him.

<r>Looks like Kelly hasn't made up his mind yet on who will do the play calling this season but it's either Denbrock or Sanford. I didn't realize until I read the article on a website, but Denbrock did the play calling in the LSU bowl game. If that's what we can expect from Denbrock then I'm all for him being the play caller. <E>:D</E></r>

    lol...Tommy Rees -5.1 yds per carry!! :)

I do hope that Malik develops into a competent passer, there keeps being talk out there that in practice he tends to go to his dump off recievers a lot instead of the midrange throws, if that becomes the book on him then you can bet that teams will fill the box and dare him to throw the ball.

Sort of the reverse of what Stanford did to Rees one time, they virtually didn't rush anybody and dropped everybody into coverage knowing Tommy could not make them pay running the football when he saw that coverage.

While like most ND fans I want to see a solid running game, if Malik can't make the defense respect his passing then it's going to be tough to run the ball.

<t>Well despite some injuries one being a major one to a starter on defense I'm seeing and hearing lot's of positives from fall camp. I will be really surprised if we don't play well and really hand it to Texas in the opener. Speaking of Texas....<br/>
