I agree Tim, as USC alums and supposedly impartial analysts they should comment on the game not use it as a forum to call out the USC coach. Don I was shocked that Iowa showed so much offense. USC finished the season pretty strong, and showed a lot of offense. I thought they'd handle Iowa easily.
Terry, I had not read it, but after seeing your post, I did. He's a pretty exceptional young man. Thanks for calling my attention to the article.
Tim, it seems that some broadcast teams seem to latch on to a theme about each game and then they use every opportunity to support that theme. I guess it is.easier than doing real analysis.
Well Irish lead 20-6 at half. Iowa State just too many mistakes. 2 fumbles and a critical failed 4th down in their own territory are the stories. Chase Claypool having a great game, 112 yds receiving and recovered a fumble on special teams. Irish offense looked slow to me, we've had some big plays and taken advantage of the turnovers, but don't look strong running the ball. Brock Purdy has a strong arm and has made some great throws, they just have not been able to get anything done in the redzone possessions. They get the ball to start the 2nd half. Irish offense needs to come alive in the 2nd half and keep the ball out of Purdy's hands.
Good solid win. Could have been a big blowout if we didn't have to kick 4 FG's. Don't get me wrong, Doerer had a great game and the biggest surprise of the season, but a better and more consistent performance in the redzone and it could have been a huge win. Defense was so good again today, Iowa State had a solid season and put up points on almost all of their opponents except Iowa. Brock Purdy has a good arm and he made some good throws but our defense just didn't give him much. 11-2 a very good season. Not a great season though because of that blowout in Ann Arbor. Still I'll take 11-2 and a good lead into 2020. We'll start hearing pretty soon about players coming back as it's 3 weeks till the NFL deadline for underclassmen declaring and players who are entering the portal, if there are any, will most likely want to do so and enroll somewhere for the Spring semester. Everybody will of course be watching Phil Jurkovec
Beat Michigan and if everything else remains the same we're in the CFP over OU I believe. But we didn't.
We’ve all seen it with our teams. You can have a great football team but can’t give up that big embarrassing loss. Michigan is a really good team but no way they should have manhandled you.
Yeah usually it seems like you have to narrowly avoid a loss and get.a.couple of lucky breaks to get a National Championship
After watching LSU dismantle OU, I might be glad we aren't playing them. We're a good team, but even as good as our defense has been this year they haven't seen any offense even close to LSU.
I was glad for the seniors who oversaw the turnaround with the record and I was very happy with our vertical, not horizontal, running game. OU better not EVER get the benefit of the doubt over anyone for a very long time.
I wonder if that ND hater blowhard Tebow will comment about OU's qualification to be in the CFP. Probably not.
Just wondering what those clowns on ND Nation thought about Reese's calling of the game. Overall, I thought he did a good job.
I thought he called a good game, not a great game. I didn't like how much East/West running our backs did, and I thought the offense left some points out there. Of course nobody knows what Kelly is going to do with the OCoord position, but if this game was a tryout, then I think he needs to at least consider other more experienced options.
