Irish women are back home tonight vs Morehead State, a team that we should be able to beat as handily as we beat FSU this past Sunday. Hopefully no injuries and the new players on the team continue to get playing time and the team gets used to one another. Lyana Moore and Mylaya Cowles both have started to show their talent, it's needs to continue to grow for us to be one of the better ACC teams.
I'm familiar with the Zachary kid from his HS football reputation and his ND scholarship. I also am aware of Ben Davis' dominant few years in HS basktball but I wasn't aware of how much he contributed. Based on the bio that Terry posted, the kid is a D1-capable player, much more than a warm body. As they say here, in 49 other states, it's just basketball, but this is Indiana.
The ACC has taken every opportunity to piss in ND's Cheerios since we've signed the deal. I'd really not prefer to give Brian Kelly any credit or excuses, but honestly he did a good job dealing with their nonsense. The bottom line is that we make this conference a lot of money, and they've treated it as an imposition at every step.
Easy win for the Irish Women last night, 97-48, but it might have come at a high price as early in the game starting guard KK Bransford who missed last year due to injury appeared to have one of those dreaded non-contact injuries which in women's sports almost always means ACL.
Kyle, I'm not sure what you mean. If you're saying that ND has treated ACC membership as an imposition, I disagree. For me, the membership per se isn't the issue. Up to a week ago, the relationship was smooth and mutually beneficial. Neither side felt imposed upon. It's the skulduggery of the ACC's blatant campaign to submarine ND's chances in order to get Miami in over ND and how they nefariously went about it. I think I understand why they did it: 1)the conference receives 100% of Miami's CFP revenue and ND retains 100%. 2) By assuaging Miami, they might influence Miami to not want to leave the conference. I believe it's one or the other or both. Why wouldn't they just stay silent and impartial and let it play out? The result might have been the same, ND certainly would have been upset, but the mutually beneficial relationship could have remained intact. The ACC's conduct destroyed the trust that had existed between the two parties. I don't know where you go from there.
I don’t know Sid, I’m just an outside observer, but it seems like I’ve heard a lot of negative statements about y’all being sort of in the conference. Maybe I’m wrong and this is a Notre Dame thread so I’ll defer to your assessment. I just thought there was a general consensus that the ACC got more out of the deal than Notre Dame did.
I do think ND football has been a boon to ACC Football. They have better attendance when we show up at their stadium, more likely to be in a bigger TV slot and when they come to South Bend they will be on National TV and get a bigger check. So from a money standpoint we've been a win, but I think they resent us for it. For the rest of the sports probably not much impact.
I'm going to guess Love and Moore will be consensus AA's. Price will make a lot of teams. SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Junior running back Jeremiyah Love and sophomore cornerback Leonard Moore have been named 2025 Walter Camp First-Team All-Americans, while junior running back Jadarian Price earned selection to the 2025 Walter Camp All-America Second Team as a kick returner. The Walter Camp All-America team is one of the five All-America honors that contribute towards consensus and unanimous All-America status. Notre Dame has two First Team All-Americans for the third time in the last four seasons, and sixth time since 2015. Love is the first Fighting Irish running back to be named a Walter Camp All-American since 1979 (Vagas Ferguson).
Love quotes. “Our season was the way it was. We controlled our own destiny, and at the end of the day we left it up to the committee to decide whether we’re going to be in the playoffs or not.” “We understand if we took care of business throughout the whole season, there would’ve been no doubt in the College Football Playoff. But we had the season that we had, that we’re not by any means disappointed in.” “We’re proud of the way we ended the season. It just was disappointing that we didn’t get into the playoffs.” • On the team decision to skip a bowl game: “We felt like we had a very special group, and at the end of the season, we weren’t going to have the same team that we did going into the bowl game. So we wanted to make sure that we didn’t want to represent the team in any light that it wasn’t throughout the whole 2025 season.” “Ultimately came down to us wanting to give the best representation of our 2025 football team.”
Speaking of Love. The Doak Walker goes to the nation’s premier running back. Jeremiyah Love is that guy in 2025. In 2025, Love ran for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns, while also catching 27 passes for 280 yards and three more scores. The 21 total touchdowns broke the single-season record set by Jerome Bettis in 1991. It’s also a historic moment for the Notre Dame program as Love is the first running back to win the Doak Walker Award. Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love Wins Doak Walker Award
Kyle. the "sort of" in the conference is correct only for football. All other sports are full conference members. The ACC agreed to our desire to remain independent as long as we scheduled 5 ACC FB teams each season, which we've done. Hence, the "sort of". Lou Holtz has a saying - I'm paraphrasing - If you love Notre Dame, no explanation is necessary. If you don't, no explanation will suffice. That where we are here. There are as many people who don't like - even hate - ND as there are who love ND. This unfortunate incident isn't going to change anyone's mind. I'm OK with that.
Yeah I’m only talking about football. Like I said, I’m an outside observer and when Terry said that he thought the ACC resented ND, I just got the impression that Notre Dame football supporters were not crazy about the ACC affiliation either, but what do I know.
