Steve Angeli to the Portal as a grad transfer. Good luck to him, he was a good and loyal teammate.

Angeli plans to enter the Transfer Portal with two years of eligibility remaining. The writing appeared to be on the wall, and Marcus Freeman and the Irish staff was honest with Angeli. He has been a tremendous member of the Notre Dame program, and now has a chance to go find a new opportunity to make his mark.

I sort of thought Angeli would transfer. I think Feeman likes the idea of using Minchey in certain situations where his running ability would be an advantage.

A rare good weekend for Irish Baseball, they swept the Stanford Cardinals at Palo Alto. Also Softball got a win over a ranked Duke squad, lead by Soph Shortstop, Addison Amaral, a rising star to say the least and a real babe to boot. She's from Salinas and went to Notre Dame HS.

Men's lacrosse got a big win over #5 ranked UNC, at Chapel Hill.

It's expected that the roster limit for 2025 will be 105. Currently the Irish have 115 players including incoming freshmen and transfers. That includes 22 walk-on's. Many have lamented that the new roster limits will kill the walk-on programs but I'm not really sure it will. I mean even with 85 players you have had a lot of players leave programs looking for playing time. Also how many programs can afford 105 full scholarships?

Spring Drills are officially over at ND, Freman had his press conference today. Lot of positives this spring. Lot of experience coming back even though we lost some really good players. OL should be solid with a lot fo experience, unlike last year at A&M when we had a combined 5 starts on the OL.

Looking forward to the season opener at Miami.

I hope he does well for Syracuse, except for his return to Notre Dame Stadium Nov 22

Former Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli has committed to Syracuse out of the transfer portal. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The Fighting Irish will host the Orange for the program's Senior Day on Nov. 22.

Angeli made 21 appearances in three seasons at Notre Dame, including one start in the 2023 Sun Bowl, while primarily serving as the team's backup. In his career, he went 58-80 (72.5 %) for 10 touchdowns and an interception.

Here's an excerpt from an Indy Star article written by Tom Noie about ND's success in not losing its BB players to the portal. I'm pretty sure it's paywalled so I'm not posting the entire article here, but IMO it's worth reading if you can find it elsewhere.

If you read Eric Hansen's chat from last week on WBB, you'll come away with a different feeling. He alleges that TCU had mid-season contact with Olivia Miles. I've been a big fan of WBB, esp since the Irish have been so successful for the last 20 years, but it's a cesspool worse than the men's right now.

Also while I'm glad that Shrewsberry hasn't had a lot of defections, I'm not sure what that means. Does it mean that he's got NIL money and the players are happy? They love playing for him? They aren't good enough to generate any interest? I just don't know. This next season is critical for him, he's got some good young talent, not Duke level, but if he has the same result as last season it's going to be rough to keep him.

Chat Transcript: Coming to terms with Notre Dame WBB's roster management

If Ayden Pouncey‍ had any unanswered questions about Notre Dame, they were answered during a visit to South Bend earlier this week.

And today, the 2026 Florida defensive back announced his commitment to the Irish, over offers from several schools, including LSU, Georgia and Michigan.

Very nice addition to the 2026 class. Of course as we all know it's can you keep him happy and develop him all while agents from other programs are offering more money.

I’m semi-pumped to see that the Colts drafted Riley Leonard. The odds are against him making the team, but he’ll get the opportunity to try. The Colts QB situation may be the most unsettled in the NFL.

Now the Colts have three QBs who struggle to complete passes.
Meanwhile ND recruiting seems to be doing well. Look at the NFL draftees from OSU. They we're loaded.

Irish baseball swept both the west coast teams in Stanford and CAL. The Tree we swept in Palo Alto and CAL in South Bend. Neither are very good teams though, we'll still likely not make even the ACC Tournament unless we somehow win a bunch of games.

Softball is pretty much done for the year, a mediocre team this season. They face a Big 10 team in an odd match up for a Monday or anytime during this part of the season. Ducks are #5 in the Nation. Usually weekends are Conference teams and weekdays are some local area palooka. This past week we saw Valpo and Central Michigan.

Men's lacrosse is seemingly getting on a roll at the right time. They started the season #1 and hoping for a 3 peat, but had a rough start and dropped down quite a bit but are back to #5 and face Syracuse in the ACC Tournament.

As Tim noted football recruiting is seemingly doing well.

Women's BB seems to be in a bit of a funk, lost some important players to graduation and the portal. Their replacements are good players but not the same caliber. Coach Ivey is coming under a lot of scrutiny for the way she's running the program both coaching and recruiting. Next year will be a rebuilding year for sure unless some magic happens.

Re: Baseball. What happened to the dominance of west coast teams? Thanks to the two sweeps, ND's record is looking decent for a northern team. I agree with Terry that they might not be in the ACC tournament, but the season is shaping up as not great but ok as opposed to where it was several weeks ago.

Nice to see Bryant Young back working with the Irish team as a consultant. Certainly can't help if he gets involved in recruiting.

A blow to ND Baseball's efforts to resurrect its season, a loss tonight at Purdue. Final score 11-5. Purdue's record is similar to ND's, 26-18 overall and 7-14 conference, 3rd team from the bottom.
