Actually, what I should have done was hit the tables for an hour and then headed home. The parking was free. Could have used the money in the penny slots. :)

Parking was supposedly free at the Greektown casino but I figure it cost me about $100/hour when I parked there.

I felt sorry for MSU till I read that Dantonio went for the punt block on that last series. I understand he's kind of gotten into the whole being the Mad Hatter of the North but that was a dumb decision. Of course he didn't know his guy was going to nearly run it back for a TD and give him almost a sure win. But still he had plenty of time on the clock and would have had good field position.

But to your point he was sort of penalized for playing in the Championship game. They aren't the first team, back in '98 a top 5 KSU lost to A&M team ( they may have #1 or #2 I forget). After losing the championship game they ended up in a minor bowl and were still ranked in the top 5 I believe.

    Ridiculously stupid decision.

Hey...the SEC CG loser has been getting penalized bowl-wise for losing for almost 20 years running now.

    It happens.....

all the more reason for a 14 team playoff (well, until the sec expands to 16 teams). That way EVERY team in the sec could have a chance without being left out. Right now there's 1-14 (all sec) in the top 25 best football programs in history. Then, starting at about 2500 is where all the other conferences come in. We get it, nobody is even CLOSE to the sec. I don't know why you don't petition to be included in the Super Bowl every year too.

And somehow this offended you WSU?

I was merely pointing out another example of how losing a tiltle game negatively impacts a team's bowl position.

It's happened before that not playing in the conf championship game helped...what year was it that OU lost to KSU when they were #1, but didn't drop past #2 and then didn't play in the B12 champ game. Also Neb the year that they got beat 200-0 by Miami also didn't play for the B12 Championship.

Dave, the ridiculous thing is that i bet you dont know what youve said until someone responds, and then you feel you have to defend such absurdities out of course. It appears to me that you are saying the loser of the seccg was either the #2 team, or at least a bcs team, if not for having to play in the cg. They loser of the seccg has been screwed for 20 years in a row. Case in point, south carolina should have been in the bcscg, or at least one of the other bcs bowls? Words dont exist to describe my bewilderment, thus the ridi ulous nature of my comparisons.

Now think about what I said.......

    OK...let me diffuse this.

We are talking about conference championship games and how they negatively impact bowl position are we not?

Many times in the SEC a team doesn't play for it's conference championship and yet gets a better bowl for not losing it's last game as does the CG loser.

As I said...it happens.....and it probably happened to MSU in this case.

In this case MSU was ineligible for the BCS based on the final BCS rankings. By not playing Mich moved up and MSU moved down. I dare say that had MSU won and Wisconsin lost that Wiscy would have been the odd man out with regard to the BCS. Mich is just way more desirable as a TV draw than either and while I never think of Mich fans traveling like Neb, Ohio State fans....maybe they do...but this has been a somewhat magical year for them and I'll bet they sellout their allotment to the Sugar Bowl and then some.

Not to mention they bring Shoelaces, probably the most exciting player in college football this year.

They were ranked #4...until Purdue beat them in the Alamo Bowl.

Yes...Drew Brees took us to a win in 1998 over #4 Kansas State.

Speaking of Oklahoma State, you probably don't remember that Billy Dicken was MVP and took Purdue to a win over Oklahoma State in the 1997 Alamo Bowl. He passed for 325 yards. Ah, the good old days.

I would watch those 2 teams go at it all day every day.

As for the 'system'... Just remember that the reason people were being punished is that they weren't super conferences.

Now nearly everyone is in a super conference and the NC game is between 2 teams from the same conference... one of which didn't even win their division but may well win the NC.

The system sucks, but Michigan State/Wisconsin could play a 7 game series and I wouldn't even get up during the commercials.

I thought Bama/LSU......while low scoring....was gripping.....physical drama and fun to watch.

If LSU is #1......Bama looked to be # 1a.

Think a rematch will be compelling to watch?

If Wisky and Sparty were as good as LSU and Alabama appear to be.....and had already played the hardest hitting most physical game I had seen all year and were headed for a showdown rematch for the national championship then as a college football fan I know I would be watching.

    But hey.....that's me.

    Yeah, we know.

I was opposed to the B1G's playing each other in a rematch a couple of years ago as well, even before the first game knowing that it might effect OSU...and that was when we thought both teams were that good...before we found out otherwise.

    But that's just me.

I watched that game and felt strongly otherwise when the winning team gave up 39 points.

I was called many a name on this board for saying so before the NC game because I didn't bow down to what was obvious to everyone else.

But I was....as you say....proved correct in my analysis.
