Hey MCG, if you want to change your name or your pants, do it in a different topic or via an email to the administrators. Back to the original topic. Some may not recall that when ND first began to attend bowls - 1969, I think, but I could be off by a year - our policy was to accept a bowl bid only if it meant something in terms of the national championship. Over the years as the bowl revenues increased, the state of the game changed, and we became consistently non-competitive in the NC picture, that philosophy went by the wayside. I guess I'm old school enough to remember the "old days" and to think that it's OK not to accept a bowl bid at 6-6 with 4 consecutive season-ending losses and no head coach.
Hey Sid, it was gipper that suggested Motor City change his name. I certainly do remember when Notre Dame didn't go to bowl games. Heck I remember when there were only about 6 - 8 bowl games and it was an honor to get to go to one. Now there are to many to count. I do want my team to go whenever they can though.
Bill, He is referring to the fact that it was not him but AJ that suggested the name change. Let's drop it and allow this topic to be about ND going or not going to a bowl game.
I don't know if Clausen is till in SB attending classes or not. I just know he cleaned out his locker on Monday. If we accepted a bowl bid to the Detroit Pizza Bowl presumably Evan Sharpley would have been the QB.
I... <t>Agree with JS on them not going at 6/6. That in itself is bad enough but with all the distractions this is not the year for any bowl IMO.<br/> Besides that as an Irish fan I cannot watch one more defensive series from this bunch the rest of the year. It sickens me.<br/> Lets get the best coach possible on board and fix the mess.</t>
