So now that Kap got his big $$$ settlement, is he employable? His agent said he absolutely wants to play again and named a couple of teams that might be interested in him. But he hasn't played in a few years, and he's still an activist on this issue. So what happens if nobody offers him a job? Another collusion lawsuit.
With the combine going on there are always combine stars, guys who put up great numbers. Of course they have almost to a man dropped out of school and have been working full time training for the events so it's not surprising that some of them would really shine. There was a BC kid awhile ago who was a good but not great college player, Mike Mamula (sp?) and he just blew away everybody at the combine and it significantly boosted his stock. But he really never translated that to any level of NFL success. There have been some amazing 40 times for defensive guys, a DE from Mississippi State, Montez Sweat, who at 6'5" 260lbs ran a 4.41 40 yd dash. That's faster than Deandre Hopkins the best WR in the NFL.
I just don't get the fascination with Kyler Murray. He was a terrific QB in the 1 year he played at OU no doubt. But his size has to be a issue even if he measured 5'10" instead of 5'9", he's still small. Sure Drew Brees and Russell Wilson have had terrific careers, but both those guys did it for more than 1 year in college at least. Maybe he'll be great, but it seems like more likely he'll be Michael Vick who was exciting to watch play but could never finish a season.
Same situation with Dwayne Haskins ( only played 1 year) Haskins better body mass than Murray. I guess we will have to wait and see how the NFL teams decide in the draft.
Exactly Don, they are trying to compare him to Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes because they played in Air Raid systems in college as well. But Mayfield played a lot in college starting at Texas Tech and then finishing at OU. Mahomes also played quite a bit more than Murray, I think he was a 3 year starter. Plus Mahomes is a big kid and while Mayfield isn't as big he's taller than Murray and a pretty thick athlete.
I normally don't follow the Combine (except for ND players) or the NFL draft rankings, but I happened to see this article about what Charlie Casserly heard from NFL teams who interviewed Murray about his intangibles: Charley Casserly: Combine Feedback on Kyler Murray 'Worst' He's Ever Gotten
Interesting new rule, replay in effect for pass interference that wasn't called on the field. Clearly a reaction to the incident in the NFC Championship game. There is a lot of pass interference, technically, that is not called...the old let them play rule...so I wonder if this will be a careful what you wish for type of situation.
