Some other interesting draft facts. Ohio St. did not have a player selected until the 4th round. Utah, the only undefeated team in 2008 had 6 players drafted.
Not one of our more impressive years. However, there are a number of juniors who may declare next year. We will see. Don
Terry, UF's draft class in 1978 was highlighted by #3 overall pick of the 1st round and future NFL pro Bowler Wes Chandler and supplemented by Derrick Gaffney....who had a decent career with the Jets and whose nephew is Jabar Gaffney. UF in 1976 and '75 should have won the SEC and would have if not for the dastardly VD...........no....not the STD.... but Derek's dada.
George.....I won't answer that directly but I see where a certain defensive lineman for the Gators probably cost himself millions of draft dollars most likely due to certain "character" issues.
MCG, here's the simple reason we didn't beat Bama this year. They were better than us! Sincerely Gator Bill
Yes they were better than Florida on Sat. December 5th in Atlanta..... ....and ultimately that's all that matters. You know.....maybe Bama feels they were better than Fla last year.....maybe Oklahoma feels they were a better team than was UF but all that matters is that UF beat those teams and claimed the NC. It doesn't bother me in the least if they want to have those opinions by the way about 2008 because UF has the trophy in the case from 2008. Same story for Bammer this year......they don't have to care what I think......but they can't change my opinions and neither can you.
You're the better team when you win, and you're the better team when you're beaten. That's a nice world to live in. I know, I know it's an opinion and we all know what they're like. Teeheeteehee.
KP.....I look at the whole body of work....on both sides. I look at Florida's performance before and after Dec. 5th and for whatever reason.....maybe Dunlap.....you didn't get Florida's best shot on defense and obviously you played better.....much better on offense than say you did vs. Tenn. The NC game was a mixed up mess but Bama did what was necessary and the trophy rests with the Tide as a result. Congratulations......again.....NC's are hard to come by. Good luck with the repeat.....
I think we all have a much better understanding of what a five month long root canal would feel like. Without the benefit of anaesthetic, of course.
It's being reported that Aaron Hernandez fall in the NFL draft had to do with failing drug tests multiple times at UF. Hernandez Drug Tests Failures Are you guys concerned with Meyers seeming tolerance for MJ? You had that DT who failed several tests and was eventually let go, Percy Harvin failed drug tests. I know colleges are where a lot of students experiment with MJ, but athletes are tested and when they fail multiple times you have to wonder is there is a lax attitude about it. Granted a very tough attitude about it might cause more problems than fans esp want to hear about. It could also affect recruiting if kids know they are going to be booted for MJ. Terry
I'm not concerned Terry. I believe that we don't have any more problem that most any other program. I believe we have a program in place to deal with it that conforms with NCAA guidelines and we just don't publicize when there is a problem but that players do sit out. I also don't think it was a big problem or the Pat's wouldn't have drafted him. Although I don't claim them as my favorite team I do believe they are among the best coached and play more team ball than about anyone around. I don't think he would have been drafted by them if it was viewed as a real problem.
Maybe Urban is tired of marijuana use by athletes. He supposedly said this at the end of spring practice:
Well I wonder if Meyer can make that stick. UF drug policy leaves a lot of room for kids to wiggle out of punishment. Can Meyer overide the UF drug policy? It contradicts his statement that if you smoke you are out. Here's an article describing it. Hernandez
Well....you have to go on what Meyer says I think. In spite of all the viewpoints to the contrary on this board I'll bet he really....really felt that Dunlap's complete and utter disregard for the team in such an important week was more than he wants to see ever happen again. I actually think that whole week contributed significantly to his health issues on Sunday after the Bama game.....not just the game result itself.
