Hey, I didn't start this topic!

I'm going by memory here, but I believe that Florida's all time worst record against an opponent is .000. We played the University of Chicago one time and lost!

Hey Corey, we are all estatic to see you. And I've personally missed your insightful posts and how you can always rationalize the SEC further down the list.

But I am sincere in saying it's nice hearing from you.

By the way I do have to ask this about S. Cals tough schedule. There are two PAC Ten teams that I see in the top 25, S. Cal at 3 and California down around 15. No others that I saw in the coaches poll.

Somehow that doesn't equate to the level of difficulty that I'm reading here.

So, Bill, your point is that the SEC has 5 teams in the BCS top 25 and the Pac10 has only 2? Therefore Florida must be a better team than USC?

It might have something to do with USC's nonconference schedule, which includes Arkansas (current BCS #7), Nebraska (#23), and ND (#5). Add California at #15 and 8 other conference opponents, and I think a reasonable person would consider that a challenging schedule. Wouldn't you?

Also, the current Sagarin strength-of-schedule rankings for the top 7 BCS teams are as follows:
    OSU - 49
    MI - 29
    USC - 2
    FL - 14
    ND - 22
    Rutgers - 66
    Ark - 81

I hate USC, but the facts are the facts.

Well Sid, I hope your hatred of USC turns into a win over them.

thanks for the good words Bill

<t>schedules can be a dicey thing. You know that I actually cut you guys a lot of slack because the whole JAX/Georgia deal. However, with the addition of the 12th game it does boil my blood a bit when I see a IAA team added. Hopefully that gets straightened out.

But you never know what you're going to get with a schedule. Take ND's schedule this year. Sure we take a lot of heat for it but that criticism is off base when you look at:

-When North Carolina was added, they were winning 10 games a year with a guy named Mack Brown at Head Coach. The ACC was a two team race between FSU and UNC.

-Penn State is still a very good team this year, but they aren't Penn State standard. I think its safe to say that when you put PSU on the schedule, you are expecting to have a great opponent. I cant believe ND takes heat for playing Penn State while others get a walk from the media for playing Blumpkin State.

-UCLA is usually much better than they are this year. I'd say they are actually a very good, young team though. I'm not sold on Kaptain Karl yet though.

-ND will always take heat for playing the acadmies, but 2 of them are bowl teams frequently in recent years and as Tennessee found out, the Zoomies can be a real pain in the arse.

As for USC's schedule, they had a nonconference slate of Arkansas (one win away from being SEC West Champ and playing for SEC title), Nebraska (most likely Big12 North Champ) and Notre Dame (who should roll into LA with 10 wins and their own designs on a shot at the National Title).

That isn't exactly choosing to play weak teams.

IMHO, the one thing you don't control is your conference schedule. You don't choose them and you can't control how good they are.

I would say, and have in the past, that this is a down year for the Pac10. I would also say that many SEC schedules are bouyed by the lofty rankings SEC teams get simply by name brand recognition.

Seriously, in hindsight, how tough does Florida's 4 game gauntlet look now? I too thought it was tough at first, but it hasn't played out that way at all.</t>
