3 Clemson players including DT Dexter Lawrence tested positive for a PED. Decision is pending a second test on B samples.
I don't think Clemson has any say. These are NCAA tests and they hand out the suspensions. The players have legal representation which means that they'll probably find a judge in say.....S. Car. to enjoin the suspensions.
1). I hope no Irish players are caught in this, we don't have the depth of talent available to Clemson 2) I hope they turn out to be false positives, I haven nothing against any of those Clemson players I hope they are good kids who aren't cheating on supplements and stuff. It won't be the first time players both Pro and College have been caught taking substances that were banned. For the most part they all claim that they didn't take them, or that they thought the supplement they were taking was ok, etc. But I think most ND fans are hoping that both squads are healthy and the outcome is based on the teams play on the field. Dexter Lawrence is an AA and he would be big loss for Clemson.
So far no bad news, no practice injuries, no players with team rules violations, no failed drug tests, etc. We still remain of course big underdogs to Clemson, double digits anywhere from 10 to 13 points.
Good article on Ian Book. From the NY Post. I hope it's true, that the moment is never too big for Book. We'll need him to be pinpoint accurate with the passing game to soften up the defense a bit to be able to run the ball at least enough to keep them honest. https://nypost.com/2018/12/27/why-overlooked-notre-dame-qb-is-built-for-the-biggest-moments/
Well with Lawrence out for the game you would think our chances of running the ball would be better but the Irish will have to play the best they have all season to win this game regardless. Hopefully the boys will be up to it.
Corey, The article on ND recruiting was interesting to say the least. I hadn't thought about it like that but the more I think about it the more sense it probably makes. ND has consistently had over the last several season been around the top 10 classes, never into the top 5 but no falls down into the 20 mark or even 15. As the article indicates, this seems to be what has brought them to where they are. On Book, I have to fully admit now that when we recruited him I was not thrilled and NEVER thought he would be a starter and still wasn't convinced he had what it takes until after he finally did end up starting a couple of games this season. Shows what I know huh. Win or lose in the game Saturday, it's been a great season for the Irish. Hopefully they can add a couple more wins.
Kelly wins another coach of the year award, the Dodd Trophy, it's nice but I rather he won the Cotton Bowl! I'm trying to stay even keeled for this game, not getting my hopes up while still hoping we can find a way to win the game.
Good to read that Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa claims to be 100%. I doubt if he gets many snaps as even if his foot is good he's still probably not in the same football shape he was in August.
I see that 3 out of 4 ISD staff members including Mike Frank are predicting a Clemson win, John Vannie is also predicting a Clemson win. 14 out of 15 ESPN staffers also picked a Clemson win. So we are the underdoggiest of underdogs!
If it's all the same, we'll show up. No point in having the coin toss if we can't have a winner. We could at least help them that much.
We need to throw to set up the run. They have CBs making he tackle on 1st down runs. That needs to be exposed. Our WRs are better than their CBs and Safeties.
