I guess betting Bobda a BAPP for the original Crazy Horse Head Gear is out of the question?

The series is tied, 14-14-1, since the end of a 35-year hiatus in the series. Notre Dame’s longest winning streak against Michigan is four games (1987-90) while the Wolverines’ longest streak of success against the Irish is three games (2009-11).

I was present at the tie.... the only game I ever witnessed in South Bend.

Had seats on the 40 and it was Lou Holtz at the helm for ND who decided a tie was good enough late in the game.... when he sat on the ball deep in Irish territory.... much to the chagrin of a few Irish fans who were even booing.

Very nice article. Very well researched and written. It's good to see a college junior who has the energy to fully research his topic. He's far ahead of the mainstream media folks who think the world turns on their uneducated opinions.

I agree with everything he says about the reasons for thanking Michigan.

<t>well it looks as though about 90% of the "experts" are picking michigan to win this one and honestly I don't have a good feeling about it myself. I'm usually on of the most optimistic ND fans you'll find but I'm not finding enough positive vibes on this one to to make me feel the Irish will leave the big house with a win. After the loss in the NC game and the non-convincing win the boys showed last week it's just really hard to think ND comes out on top on this one.

I know Tommy Rees didn't turn the ball over and had some great numbers last week but it was Temple...it just won't be that easy against mich.

I watched the michigan/W michigan replay and a lot of things went michigans way that led to a huge blowout. Turnovers, injured QB, and some just stupid mistakes doomed whatever chance W. michigan had, if they ever truly had one. Regardless, michigan has enough weapons on both sides of the ball to make it a long day for ND.

If the defense plays the way they did against Temple last week it's not gonna matter how good Tommy and the offense are. We'll lose by 20.

Maybe if this game were played in two more weeks after we had a couple more games under our belt I'd feel better but it's tomorrow.

All I can say then is I hope the so called "experts" and I are wrong but I sure would feel better if Everett Golson and Manti Teo were playing for ND tomorrow.</t>

    Tim,

I think you have every right to be concerned, but sometimes games just do not turn our like the experts think!

Congratulations to a great start on the Yahoo Pickem Contest.

I feel just the same way as I did before the Oklahoma game last year. I thought we had no chance. :D

I'm with Tim, I have a fear based on what that no name first time starter for Temple at QB did to our defense. Before that game I thought Day/Nix/Tuitt would eat the Temple OL for breakfast and that they would have to use 3 QB's due to being sacked so much. Instead those guys looked fat/slow/out of shape and Carlo and Foxy looked like first time starters who had no clue.

I think our offense will be ok but the defense is what I worry about.

I have no fear. The Irish have really big fast receivers. If Rees has time it will be ND 27. UM 17

I appreciate that ND is trying to win this game but it's obvious that it's been fixed. I can't remember the last time we were the beneficiary of a pass interference call at the Big House but we get hose time and agains there.

I'd like to hear from any non ND fans who saw the game. Were those PI penalties?

Well the 1st one was IMHO not PI, the 2nd one he did grab the jersey..buttttttttttttt.

Any way hat's off the Devin Gardner he was the difference in the game. He's really, really good. He's way better than Shoelaces. Rees had a decent game, but made two big mistakes that really hurt, but still we had a chance in the 4th qtr. The defense just hasn't played well yet this year, granted Mich offense is really good, but so far the defense is a disappointment. I have hopes the offense will be good, we were good tonight in spots. I liked how Amir Carlisle ran the ball, TJ caught it well, Troy Nikklas caught it well, DaVaris Daniels caught it well. I think the game is much different if Golson is in the game, he has a stronger arm than Rees and of course he's mobile and would have put more pressure on the UM D.

But congrats to Bobda...where ever he is. :)

Am I wrong or was the "pass" that Tuitt intercepted grounding? Why wasn't a flag thrown? And don't tell me because we caught it. It was reviewed. If it was ruled that the ball hit the ground, it would have been an incomplete pass. What crap.

Don't forget those aren't B10 refs, they are ACC refs...better get used to them because they are "our" refs going forward.

So after the Mich game I switch over to see how bad Texas is beating BYU...whoops...BYU mauled Texas, most rushing yards ever given up by a Texas team. BYU QB had the 2nd most rushing yards by a QB in the last 10 years, only missed Vince Young's record by a few yards.

Yeah it wasn't a good night around here...plus I finished triple bogey, double boogy to ruin a potentially decent round this afternoon.

I'm going to bed and I'm not sure I should watch the Texans/Chargers game on Monday night. :(

It hurts to lose, but we got beat fair and square. Cheer up. Think about USC. They just got whipped by Wazzoo...at the Coliseum in Los Angeles...

    1. We didn't lose because of our QB. We lost because of their QB. Devin Gardner ran and passed at will. He made only one mistake all day and the Irish had no answer for him.

    2. We had no answer for little WR Jeremy Gallon either. Notre Dame has some pretty good Dbacks and he turned them around again and again. They appeared clueless as to where he was going or how he got there.

    3. Michigan's players were first class, but the rest of that operation is second rate. I hope Notre Dame never schedules them again.

    4. Tommy Rees did fine against a pretty good defense...

    5. T.J. Jones and Troy Niklas are serious weapons and the rest of the receivers are good too. If we had any running threat from the QB at all they would be almost impossible to stop. As it is, they should be a formidable pass offense all year.

    6. The O-line did fine too. Tommy had plenty of time to throw and they put some serious dents in the wall and opened some holes. I especially liked the blocking of (LG) Chris Watt, (C) Nick Martin and (RT) Ronnie Stanley.

    7. I just love the way Austin Collinsworth plays the game, but our other safety, Matthias Farley looked lost out there...

    8. Jaylon Smith looks like Superman on some plays. He has a chance to be great...

    9. Carlo and Fox looked good again and Tuitt really is Superman...

    10. We got beat by a kid we tried hard to recruit. Better days are ahead, against classier opponents...

    1. They beat us. Gardner was superb all night. I'm not one to complain about officiating but in my view neither of the interference calls that solely enabled UM on the final drive were legit. Without them we may well be having a different conversation.

    2. Farley was completely abused all night. Russell seemed clueless as well.

    3. Michigan could have taken the high road and sent the Irish home with a little class. They chose the easier path. That says more about them than us.

4 and 5. I thought Rees played well. Too focused on Jones but looked like a leader.

I agree with all the other points. I would like. To see GA III replaced at RB. Ishaq Williams played a huge game.
