    ND/BC

<t>Just got back in town guys. Been a rough two weeks for my family and myself. Had an older sister who finally succumbed to cancer after a 5 year battle. Tough loss for all the family. Went to see her in Indiana last week while she could still hold a conversation and then again this week for the funeral. <br/>
    <br/>
Haven't been able to pay much attention to football and maybe that's a good thing noting ND's last 3 games but still optimistic they will turn the corner and start clicking on all cylinders. Hopefully this weekend against BC.</t>

    Tim,

I have a 93 year old grandmother fighting that battle right now. They're afraid to do radiation or chemo since that would probably kill her at her advanced age faster than the cancer will. I feel for you my friend.

Started well in the 1st qtr, thought maybe we'd blow these guys out. Now we can't get out of our way. Recievers running bad routes, droping balls, Crist clearly can't seem to throw the ball to his left, yet Kelly is determined to throw that way. Running game..pfft what's that.

Defense been doing ok, that big TD play by BC is really pretty much all they've been able to do. But we still struggle getting to the QB and we still having a hard time forcing turnovers.

I'll go with Don Ballards thought...a win is a win.

BC is so horrible on offense it's hard to evaluate our defense, I mean 10 net yards rushing? We aren't that good.

Also offensively we are still way too inconsistent.

    Punting....D-

Seeing the highlights of the Oregon win over Stanford, and remembering that JO'Co said that Brian Kelly was trying to do what Chip Kelly has done at Oregon....I'm hoping JO'Co is correct!!! Pretty awesome offense.

This crummy game cost me $50 bucks! It was not on tv here in the west and my cable company (Comcast) generously offered to allow me to see it on pay-per-view for $135! When I finished laughing at them, I purchased one of those internet online streaming deals for $49.95 and watched the game that way. Man was that broadcast strange! During commercials, you could hear Matt Millen and the other guy talking to each other. Millen talked about how annoying the fans in Boston are and how he "flipped off" a heckler in the stands...

A win is a win and I'll take this ugly win anytime. I liked Brian Kelly's interview after the game. The reporter mentioned that he (BK) had more than 100 friends and family at the game and he replied, "I had 100 friends here?" "It sure didn't seem that way when we walked out here."

    ........JO'Co

It didn't really feel like a win did it?

No, it didn't. There's just too many holes in the ship. We're floating along, taking on water as we go, which is a lot different from sailing along with confidence. We know what good teams look like. Certainly Alabama and Oregon look good right now and we're far short of that. Its coming, but we're still a long way off from where we want to be...

I'll take the 'W" but this was a shitty BC team. I am more convinced than I was that Crist is not the QB for this offense. He looked terrible for three quarters. The D Line exerts very little pressure as well. Those are the main weakenesses as I see them.

Carlo and Teo finished with ten tackles each and Carlo's included 3.5 tackles for a loss and the two biggest hits of the night.

Did Kelly yell this much at UC? I think I saw him yelling at his parents in the third quarter!

I'm going with the "work in progress" theme like JO'Co. Crist has his moments, but clearly is still struggling for consistency.

The next 4 games are against opponents where he can hopefully start to build some of that consistency that you see from the best Spread QB's.

Talk about SOS. How about our opponents record through this weekend.

    18-5, with 3 of the 5 top 25 schools.

<r>I let you all analyze the game for now. I simply enjoyed watching the faces of the BC fans as ND was kicking their arse all night. Been a long time coming and I enjoyed it very much.<br/>
