First they have to keep from falling off balconies. Then they have to be mature enough to leave their girlfriends.

The new OL coach seems at this point to have been a great addition and even an upgrade. Everybody says he's old school.

I do hope that GAIII learns to hold on to the football, he had a couple of bad fumbles and even Reggie Brooks, Jurkovic, Maycock, etc all noticed how loose he carried the football....said if he doesn't fix that he won't deserve to be on the field.

However we clearly should be able to run the football pretty well next year, and if we get a QB who takes care of the football it could be a good season. If we dont', then god help Kelly because there's already a mob forming and looking for rope.

    QB

<r>There is no way Rees returns as the starter. It's either Hendrix or Golson. <E>:D</E></r>

I feel bad for Reese, they talked him into enrolling early so he could provide backup for Dayne Crist, then he's the starter and minor hero after being the QB at the helm when we beat USC (inspite of his 3 picks) and torching Miami in the Bowl game...now fast forward he's the most hated QB in recent memory. Not even Ron Powlus inspired as much disdain as Rees.

All he's done is everything they've asked him to do, that his arm is not strong, that his feet are not fast, etc isn't anything he did wrong..but it is what is.

I'll reserve judgement on Golson until I see him against a real defense. I think he played against a lot of reserves on Saturday.

ON BGI they already have him as one of the all time greats 8)

Me too, everywhere I read guys saying how much they loved his HS film, how great he was, etc. The little I watched of him in HS he was sort of a HS Mike Vick, totally in control, flinging and running ...but his recievers were always wide open and he was quick enough to elude hs linemen. I don't think he played at a high level HS in terms of competition and things might change in that way when he finally gets on the field. My fear is that he'll have a hard time giving up the riverboat gambler, devil may care, etc ways that made him so successful in HS.

Watching Golson Saturday reminded me of a young, unpolished Tony Rice.

Rumored to be soon enrolling at USC.

Something is not right with this whole Tee Sheppard deal, I've read those rumors that Krebs posted and I've also read that USC is passing on him and that he's looking at Washington.

    Something just smells here.

I thought that Sheppard had a health problem that put football on the back burner..... :!:

There's some great part of this Tee Sheppard story that we're missing. I wonder what it is? So far, none of it makes football sense...

Kansas Jayhawks name Dayne Crist one of their Tri-Captains. I would love to see him throw for about 3000+ and say 25 TDs.

I certainly wish Dayne has a lot of success at KU this year, but if ND QB's struggle all year like Rees did last year it will get pretty ugly for Kelly around the ND Internet communities. He will be faced with the obvious comparison between Dayne and ND QB's and why did he give up on Dayne so easily.

Mike Heuerman, TE from Naples Fla, chose the Irish today over Ohio State where his brother is playing also as a TE.

Good Pickup...we are loaded at TE now.

I won't count this class until they are Juniors. This kid's brother plays for the Buckeyes. I'll give you 3-1 he ends up there too.

    Harrison Smith

<t>Smith is a first round pick in the draft. I remember when many fans thought he was hopeless on the field. Congratulations Harrison.</t>

He was a victim of poor coaching for the first few years.
