Carlisle <r>well amongst all the bad news lately we did get a nice and unexpected piece of news on Amir Carlisle. He is eligible to play this upcoming season:<br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE></r>
I read the article this morning. I guess what concerns me is that Lemming is focusing only on who we lost via recruiting or, in the case of Shepard, retrospective wrong decisions by recruits. In doing so, he's not looking at who we have. Actually, I favor his suggested approach of focusing geographically closer to our back yard, but I certainly don't think we should do so exclusively. We've gotten some darn good kids in the past few years from CA, TX, and the southeast. George, how do you come across an article in the FW Journal-Gazette? Do you have a special Google search terminology re: ND football? It's not the first time someone here who is far from Indiana has seen a J-G article about ND. Granted, the J-G has better ND coverage than most, but it's not exactly a world wide publication.
Sid, watch this scene and pretend that your name is Kay ..... <object><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pF4kCgi9fDM?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pF4kCgi9fDM?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Well as I said the loss of Tee Sheppard is very big for the Irish, anybody who watched the video that was posted here knows that this kid is a good character kid in addition to being talented. He supposedly was not making the academic adjustment to ND and didn't feel he fit in socially. Not much you can do there, we had a lineman leave a few years ago who said he didn't fit in socially, the word on him was that his teammates tried but from the day he stepped on campus he acted like he didn't want to be there and found something wrong with everything. Don't know why Tee didn't feel he fit in but he's a loss from a football standpoint. Sure the roster can be shuffled and guys can develope and things can be ok but life is much easier if when you recruit great talent they stay and they develope. As far as shuffling, sometimes guys don't want to be shuffled to another position, esp offensive skill guys to defense, and they end up being bad on defense and then develope attitudes and never contribute anywhere. As this guy said Kelly isn't done because of small class this year, but he needs a good class in 2013 if he is to survive. That means a good year on the field as well.
Understood, Godfather...........but if you think I'm going to hug you like Kay hugged Michael, you are mistaken. Well said, Terry. You have a nice way of bringing pure unemotional logic into the conversation.
Just read where Mike Ragone has transferred to Kansas and is joining the busload of former Irish players and coaches to play for Charlie Weis. In other news, Kansas has announced that it expects its Grotto to be complete in time for the 2012 season.
Amir Carlisle ...Broken anklen in 7x7 drills...out for Spring will be ready for Fall...Brian Hamilton Tweet.
Rumors are flying that Tee Sheperd left school because of some kind of cardiac condition. Kelly refuses to discuss , citing HIPAA compliance. We lost both of our shutdown corner recruits.... now they have moved a running back, Cam McDaniel to CB. Oh boy. John Goodman still the #1 punt returner, coming off a record breaking year averaging 11" per return. We can only pray that an incoming freshman will save us here.
I don't believe those reasons about Tee. If he had some sort of heart issue that was discovered at ND, and everything else was ok, then he'd get it taken care of and still be Irish. It's something else, academics, homesick, etc.
re: Tee Shepherd The kid was deaf. Did he make any friends? Or was he totally isolated without his cousin Deontay Greenberry? re: Cam McDaniel I think both McDaniel and Austin Collinsworth are real players who played both ways as Dbacks in high school. They should have little trouble moving over to the defensive side of the line. re: Goodman @ punt returner Davonte Neal hasn't got there yet...
I saw a report that Nikklas is a beast.. McDaniel and Collingsworth if they started would be the only white CB's in college football....or it seems like it, might be some somewhere but not many.
Another drama going on, Aaron Lynch is missing practice and has left campus for "home". Kelly said he has to take care of some family issues and will be back on Monday. I hope so. His mom lives in Cleveland now so I'm not sure other than an evil girl friend who's being paid by FSU alums to cause trouble what family problems he could be having back home.
He got in a fight with OL Tate Nichols and Kelly reportedly went berserk. That may have something to do with this.
Purple faced beserk or just regular beserk? I hope he comes back, it would be a huge loss to have him leave school.
Les Miles continues to talk like a jackass. He has the grammar of a 6th grader. Bobda must be embarrassed that he's a Michigan alum. I used to respect him as a coach. Not any more. Miles Sounds Off Again on Kiel
I never respected him. He's the kind of "leader" who sends players to the NFL who score a "four" on the Wonderlic test. I think Gunner Kiel dodged a bullet there... http://www.nicholascreative.com/footballiq/
If Miles is still yammering about this then he must view Kiel as better than anything he currently has on his roster. Miles will be just fine at LSU with the caliber of players he gets there. To continue to denigrate an 18 year old kid speaks volumes about Miles own arrested development. He is a real goober.
