ND <t>The Wright kid seemed real excited after his visit but at the same time says Mich has been his lifelong favorite. Hard to say.</t>
Elijah Shumate <t>During Saturday's U.S. Army All-America Bowl, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Shumate announced for Notre Dame, choosing the Irish over his other finalists, Rutgers and South Carolina. <br/> <br/> "When I went there, it shocked me and I fell in love with it," Shumate told 247Sports on Sunday while traveling to San Antonio for the week of practice. <br/> <br/> Ranked as the nation's No. 2 safety and 82 prospect overall, Shumate is the 18th prospect to commit to Notre Dame in the class of 2012. He gives head coach Brian Kelly his eighth Top247 verbal in this recruiting cycle.</t>
Is Amir Carlisle the guy who was forced by USC to redshirt following an unspecified medical issue and he did not want to? If so, doesn't he have a younger brother who is a top recruit?
Sid that's the Armstead boys. Armond was the older who was not cleared by USC MD's to play this season, the family sought outside medical opinions and those were counter to the USC docs. Family has been at odds with Kiffin over this, and probably why younger brother Arik decomitted from USC. Here's the article on Amir from the SBT. Amir Carlisle
Thanks, Terry. He sounds like a good kid from a good family. He had a 3.6 accum while taking 18 credit hours and playing football, which is impressive. If he can avoid injury and play to his advertised potential, he should slot in nicely at the RB position in 2013.
re: Amir Carlisle Holy cow! Who's doing our recruiting? Bobby Bowden? Remember when that one kid turned down Notre Dame in favor of Florida State, because Pastor Bobby convinced him that he would have a more "religious experience" at FSU? Now let me get this one straight... Amir Carlisle is transferring FROM Southern Cal TO Notre Dame, because he wants to major in film acting? Somebody in South Bend deserves a personal medal from the Pope for this one. Now I'm charged up! Our secret legions have been at work all the time! Urban strikes again. Took a long committed OT tackle off our hands today. Add that to the two coaches he snatched ..... he's on;y been here a month.
We recruit talented kids. Some taltented kids question their own abilities to survive a real academic environment.
Tough loss for us, but it's always been hard to get kids out of Ohio. Oh we've gotten a few here and there over the years, some really good players. But he's a kid who grew up an Ohio State fan and the 3 people we had who were his contacts, OC Charlie Molinar, OL Coach Warriner and his recruiter Tim Hinton are all gone now and ND still has no OL coach and the OL coach he was going to play for is now at OSU. Hopefully we can get a few to go our way in the closing days, we'll have to just wait and see.
Saw that and thought Uh, Oh.. Might have been fear of academics, but as Terry said...his position coach and primary recruiter both went to Ohio State. From Bleacher Report;
I wonder why Tressel never offfered him? As far as academics, he's said that Ohio State has the Sports Med/Kinesiology major he wanted while ND does not.
Rumors starting to fly that Gunner Kiel did not enroll at LSU today and that he and his parents are in South Bend.
Maybe so, watching the reaction of a Sr. LSU QB to the Alabama defense might have made the kid wonder what he was getting into I mean the high water mark for Miles and QB's is Jamarcus Russell.
