From what I'm reading for his first offense he's likely to get community service. I seem to remember Carlyle Holiday getting caught with a beer, same for Demitrus Dubose, and Jim Sanson as well. I believe Troy Murphy got caught at the Boat Club with a fake ID and holding a beer. All of those guys got community service. I do think Murphy missed a couple of basketball games. Now recently a basketball player got caught with MJ in a traffic stop and was expelled. He was eventually allowed back into school in the summer and played the next year. A lot of people were pretty incensed about the expulsion and thought it was too much. Jimmy Clausen ran a foul of a odd Indiana law that says a minor can't drive a person of legal age to buy alcoholic beverages. I know he didn't miss a game.
hendrix <r>O.K., getting back the the subject title now......<br/> <br/> It appears I was a little too impatient on our QB recruit Hendrix. seems he is an ND kid and has been all along. <br/> <br/> <URL url="http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/recruiting/football/1739-hendrix-blog-nd-is-the-best-place-for-me"><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/recruit ... ace-for-me">http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/recruiting/football/1739-hendrix-blog-nd-is-the-best-place-for-me</LINK_TEXT></URL></r>
Yeah now that he's reaffirmed he's coming to ND I salute him. If he'd gone to UF, I would have skewered him as an ingrate who was making a 40 year mistake!! BTW: There is a good interview of Swarbrick in the Trib. Swarbrick

Cris C was on Rome's radio show today and the discussion turned to his son's recruitment. Collinsworth said his son had been recruited by schools "coast to coast" and mentioned Oregon, Stanford, Harvard and "SEC Schools" and he said the only advice he gave his son was to pick a place that if he got injured on the first play on the first day of practice and could never play again, he'd be happy to go to school there and proud to graduate from there. He said football was important but the result of the education was more important. He seems to get the "40 year decision" rule. He also said he'd wear his Irish hat and sit in the stands and leave Brian Kelly alone. He made it a point to say he was not going to be like Craig James.
Collinsworth <r>This may help to change my opinion of Mr. Collinsworth. To be honest I haven't like him in a long time. Maybe his son is more intelligent than he is... <E></E></r>
Kelly's full staff was introduced. I'm getting out the Kool-Aid and making a big pitcher and drinking it all down today. I like this staff, they are young and energetic and I think this will be our best recruiting staff in a long time. If Kelly can win 9-10 games next year he will bring in a top 5 class for the Irish. Of course all of this could change depending on the outcome Sept 4th!
Dang Tim, there seems to be a long list of people you don't like. Glad to see the Irish faithful having faith.
I just read the Hendrix blog Terry posted. I'll take that. When a recruit that has never been to Florida and is committed elsewhere visits our campus and comes away with that impression I feel pretty good about that. Next fall we will have Brantley who is a junior and a redshirt freshman and a true freshman. There is rumor that the reshirt freshman may be converted to a tight end.
So next year you have Brantley and a True Freshman at QB? Assuming you are correct about the RS being moved to TE. I think that makes my point on how hard it is to have meaningful depth at QB, not impossible, but damn difficult. Next year at Texas well will have a True Soph starting at QB, and 2 True Freshmen backing him up. And Texas is a recruiting machine. It's just damn tough to keep a QB depth chart full. Next year at ND well will have a Jr starting QB, and 2 True Freshmen backing him up. Jr. Starting QB did not play as a freshman and only got a few snaps last year before he was injured. Ohio State has Pryor and somebody but I'll bet somebody hasn't played very much. Mich has 1 very experienced Soph, 1 somewhat experienced Soph and a True Freshman. They are deep at QB.
T. Nichols <r>ND's latest commit: <br/> <br/> The Irish coaching staff secured a commitment from Tate Nichols, a 6-foot-7, 278-pound prospect from Union, Ky., who played tight end in high school but projects at offensive tackle. Nichols received an offer and committed during an unofficial visit this weekend.<br/> <br/> Kid was a Stanford commit until today. <br/> <br/> Good news as we need all the OT/OL players we can get in this class! <br/> <br/> Additionally it's ND third player who originally committed to Stanford that flipped and decided to come to ND. Harbaugh must be pissed. He'll probably really pull out all the stops trying to get Blake Lueders to go his way now. <E>8)</E></r>
Well Kelly flipped an OT who was previously committed to Stanford. They took him to the Bascillica and he was awed, and he's Catholic. I wonder if somebody will write an internet piece on how Kelly is using the Basicillica as a recruiting tool. He's just warming up, apparitions of Mary are next!
Oh yeah Nichols is the 3rd Stanford commit to jump ship for Notre Dame....now if Blake Leuders just tells Harbaugh no thanks I'll be pretty happy! Next he'll be poaching Gators!!
Considering... <t>The problems the ND O-Line has been for years we need all the prospects we can get this year and I look for Kelly and staff to take six in next years class. Glad to get this guy today.<br/> Hoping we can pull off Matt James as well.</t>
Terry, either the true freshman or the red shirt if he isn't converted to tight end. That is not definite yet so far as I know. But you are right it's hard to get two good QB's into school at the same time.
Shembo <r>Well for ND Prince Shembo WON'T be taking a visit to Miami after all. <br/> <br/> The 6-foot-2, 232-pound linebacker from Charlotte, N.C. decided no to visit Miami after a visit from ND coaches Bob Diaco and Kerry Cooks on Monday eve. This is good news for the Irish. <br/> <br/> The only 2 remaining "soft" verbal are Blake Lueders and Gio Bernard. Lueders is a <B><s></s>definate<e></e></B> need, so hopefull Stanford doesn't pull him away. <br/> <br/> ND is not going to finish with a top 10 class this year but I believe we need to hold onto the kids we already had committed(and so far Kelly has done a pretty job at that) and pick up a few more in key positions(Safety, LB, OL) to be successful this coming season. We've only lost 2 that were verbals before(really one cause I don't think Martin would have signed no matter who was coach). Then if Kelly can figure a way to get the kids he has to come up with 8 or 9 wins it would go a long way to getting recruiting and the program back on track.</r>
Leuders is a big need as you said. I hope that the new defensive coaches are able to convince him that he's a great fit for what they want to do. I am certain that the Stanford coaches will be in his ear about the 3-4 that Kelly will run and how he won't fit or something like that. Kelly has an in house with Gio this week and from what a read he did not go on a visit to NCState as he was reported to be doing. So that's a good thing, plus the Kelly offense is what he's been running in HS and that should help him to fit at ND. If Kelly can get Anthony Barr to commit, something that even Charlie couldn't do, that would be a big win. But everybody seems to think he's become too connected to UCLA, Slick Rick's kid plays on his team, and of course it would mean not leaving sunny warm SoCal. But we can hope. There are a couple of other kids out there, Matt James for 1, and a DE who I can't remember that would be very nice as well.
ND <r>Larry,<br/> <br/> You're right, the kid from from Hawaii definitely does some serious hitting. Put a few pounds on him and you have a real monster. Wouldn't mind seeing him in Blue and Gold. <E>8)</E></r>
