Yeah Urban has played both sides of the coin before.

Despite the protests of Florida's faithful here, I've read enough reports and interviews with the kids to see the conflicts and the lies in the story. But... that's recruitin 'down here'...

I would bet he has offers out to all those QBs and told each one that 'he is our guy.'

    It is what it is...

I wonder if Kelly would wind up like that? I always preferred Charlie's attempt at a more noble path, but as we saw... it doesn't always work out.

I have no doubt that Urban stays within the rules completely. But that he plays a very cagey and tough game to get the best players he can for the Gators.

Charlie on the other hand foolishly tried to employ some honor code and gotten his head handed to him by some recruits who verbaled to him but asked to be silents, he actually thought if he kept his word they'd keep their word. Silly man. Urban on the other hand has a take no prisoners approach, I hope that Kelly has learned from watching how the big boys recruit and how you can't really trust a lot of these kids.

bad news... Michael Floyd was involved in an incident at home that resulted in him getting a MIP citation which is a misdemeanor, he'll get community service. But he will also have to face RES Life who in the past has come down pretty hard on stuff like this. I wouldn't be suprised if he was suspended from the team and not allowed to participate in Spring Drills.

    God dammit..

I know the rules are the rules and Res Life is what it is.

I also know that guys who attended school there in the 70s and 80s swear that it is different now... I can't vouch for that, but they aren't the 'foaming at the mouth' NDN types.

    Camp Kelly is underway.

He has made major changes in the football program already according to my source.... right down to the locker room. All jobs are officially up for grabs.

What the hell does RES life have to do with anything that happens when a student is home?

What does it have to do with a student who lives off campus? It hasn't stopped them in the past from suspending players.

What I could have said better Terry is that the offer could have been contingent on Hendrix not accepting the Gator offer.

Latest news is that Hendrix is sticking with Notre Dame and Scroggins with USC.

Sorry I didn't reply yesterday Terry.

It's not just at ND. Here's the Texas equivalent, the Dean of Students Office.

    Sec. 11-101. Introduction

    (a) Students at the University neither lose the rights nor escape the responsibilities of citizenship. They are expected to obey and conduct themselves in accordance with both the penal and civil statutes of the local, state, and federal governments and the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, University regulations, and administrative rules and to observe standards of conduct appropriate for an academic institution. They may be disciplined by the University for violating these standards of conduct on the campus or off of the campus when the incident occurs in connection with an institution-oriented activity, or when the incident has a substantial connection to the interests of the University, or when the behavior is prohibited by University policy regardless of where it occurs, even if they are or may be penalized by civil authorities for the same act. Institutional disciplinary sanctions will not, however, be used merely to duplicate the penalties imposed by civil authority.

It think that is very well said Terry. I think that the only way to look at it is that until you have a name on the dotted line then a kid can change his mind. Even with the comments Corey loves to toss in about the Gators, we have lost one or more silent, or even verbal the last several years.

You play the game as it is or you can get burned, I prefer the former.

Congratulations on Hendrix, I think he could be a good one.

I see a difference between students who are living in dorms or off campus housing and students who are at home not attending the school.

I see a difference, you see a difference.. that doesn't mean they will see a difference.

Well we are proud that ND takes these things seriously and that they apply the rules equally to athletes and to students. At many places (not all) the coach seems to be the one who sets the tone for discipline for football players, not at ND.

That doesn't mean that we agree with each and every result. I think most of us feel that ND tends to be a little heavy handed on the discipline.

Inside of KP's lighthearted jab is one hell of a lot of truth. When I was in college I did most everything these fellas do and then some. At ND, because of who they are, they are targets. Big names in a little town.

I'm not saying to look the other way. I'm saying get some perspective.

In this case Floyd is not accused of stealing, drugs, breaking and entering, discharging a firearm in the street, sexual assault, DUI or any of the usual atrocities we read about daily eleswhere. he had a couple of drinks in his hometown and got into a fist fight at a party.

This residence life caper sounds like some kind of secret "big brother" society. This isn't some Bing Crosby movie. This is life.
