You are wrong about his talent. I was not a Jimi Hendrix fan, but what separated him and others like Janis Joplin from the rest of the pack in that era was their phenomenal talent and how they pissed away their lives, literally, via drugs.

Add Jim Morrison to that mix Sid.

But that decade was not alone in losing great musical talents to drugs.

In the 90s it was Kirk Cobain.....one helluva talent and then this Staley kid a few years later from Alice In Chains....also a great talent in a talented band.

Michael Jackson......who already had whacked out his life pretty well.....finished it off with a drug OD.

It's the biggest thing I have always preached to my own talented son about when it comes to being in music and hanging around with other musicians.....and so far I have been getting point across because he has seemed to be very smart about staying away from the dangerous stuff that I have to assume he has been exposed to at one time or another.

To each his own, I don't like any of his music so when people say he was a great guitarist I wonder what they are talking about. I like the way Wiliie plays guitar though! :)

Terry, I can see why you wouldn't have liked his music or any of the "acid rock" era music. It certainly was a stark contrast to the Willie Nelson genre.

Although I - thankfully - was not into drugs, the acid rock music appealed to me. Can't say why. I guess in the late 60s, I was young, single, and into having fun, and that music got me going.

Sid.....I exposed my son to classic rock artists from an early age and the kid has a very good ear for great music and for all of his 6 year musical career he has played songs from artists in the 60s and 70s.

You should hear him do "Can't You See.... (what that woman's doing to me)" by Marshall Tucker Band......it's awesome.

It was not a pretty sight.

If you watched the Air Force-Houston game yesterday, The AF WR, no. 83, Kevin Fogler, is Tyler Eifert's cousin from Bishop Dwenger.

Didn't get to see the game, not much joy here in Houston though with the total domination of the Cougars by the Flyboys!

I hope that Tyler is fully recovered and ready to go in the Spring, I like his potential.

Hendrix apparently enjoyed his weekend at UF, and he has said he'll make up his mind this week. Hopefully he stays with the Irish, but if he doesn't there are some other guys who are giving us a look including a kid who was previously commited to Texas Tech and is ranked higher than Hendrix along with a few other guys. So we should still get a 2nd QB who's pretty good.

There is something going on with Hendrix and Kelly, some have said Hendrix hasn't gotten over that Kelly offered Luke Massa of St. X high before he offered him. That seems pretty petty, but who knows

There are also a lot of new names that have cropped up, one of them isn't the Prater kid though who decomitted from USC, his parents like ND but he's been pretty clear that he wants a place with a little more glitzy social life. Same thing for Seantel Henderson, parents like ND, but kid wants a place more known for the party life to go with the football.

Sometimes one door closes and another door opens. If Hendrix goes to UF, and the Texas Tech kid comes to ND, then we'll have actually upgraded the QB slot as he is higher ranked than Hendrix.

<t>If the Hendrix kid wants to go to Florida then so be it, I'm happy with Rees and I'll take the Texas kid. I may be wrong but Hendrix hasn't impressed me</t>

I saw a post on NDNation that said that Urban has called USC QB recruit Jesse Scroggins and told his coach he has a spot at UF if he wants it.

I wonder if Hendrix left Gainesville thinking he had that spot? You know what would be cruel, yet somehow poetic is if Hendrix thinks he has the Gator slot and has called Kelly to tell him he's going to UF. Kelly calls the Tech kid who takes the offer and Hendrix then gets the call from UF that Scroggins took his spot. Now Hendrix is in the wind, although I'd bet Ohio State would find a spot for him pretty quickly.

Terry, it is also highly likely that if Meyer called Scroggins that Hendrix either didn't get his offer or it was conditional.

We will know how it all works out by Feb 3. :)

It was Continental. He didn't want a SUV. He wanted a Lincoln.
