Thanks Don, UConn will be a very tough game. We've beaten them 2x already this year one really close game one not so close and one that they dominated us and beat us in the Big East Tournament Championship.

Sid I think you are right, with Martin coming back and also some of the new guys coming in the fall there just won't be the minutes I'm sure that he wants to play at this point in his career.

Good luck to him, he's been a great representative of the University.

On the Womens front...Irish make a 2nd straight trip to the Nat'l Championship game. Although I don't see how anybody can beat Baylor but that's why we play the game, upsets happen.

ND women reach the national championship game for the 2nd year in a row in a hard-fought OT win over Uconn, the 3rd time this season that we've beaten them.

(Whoops! Didn't see your comment in your post above, Terry, until after I had posted this.)

No answer for Griner, and Baylor defeats us easily. It didn't help that Peters got into foul trouble early and Novosel was 0 for the game shooting. But Baylor was more than Griner, their PG Sims is a great player and they have a lot of other excellent players. Worthy Champions.

    Congrats to the Baylor Bears.

I hope that both Novosel and Peters will understand that despite their rough times tonight, without their season-long performances we never would have gotten this far. I'm sure McGraw will make that point very clear to them.

No doubt Sid, those girls were critical to the season long success and they have had great careers. Nothing to hang their heads about. No doubt that loss stung for everybody on the team.

Irish have just come up short in the post in both the game vs A&M last year where the A&M post was pretty much just as unstoppable as Griner was last night. They had different games, the A&M post was just physically stronger than our girls while Griner was just so tall and athletic.

I thought it was telling that on inbounds plays under the basket that she could catch and shoot over the Irish, and when we triple teamed her she just tossed it to the inbounds passer when she stepped on the court for easy basket. That was the real difference. I would expect Baylor to have a shot at another undefeated season and certainly the odds on favorites to win again next year. Griner will play for USA basketball in the Olympics this summer and with that experience she'll be even better next year.

Great game and season for Baylor. They were at their best in the Final game. The Irish needed to shoot very well, control the defensive boards and stay out of foul trouble. 0 for 3. The rebounding advantage to Baylor was incredible 46-27. Let's pencil Baylor back in for next year. I just hope we get to stick it again to Gino next year.

UConn should be the 2nd best team in the country next year, they have a ton of young talent that played this year and did pretty well, plus they have more coming in the fall. We have some good young talent coming as well but it'll be tough to match UConn next year.

Amen. As far as I'm concerned, we capped a great season Sunday night when we beat Uconn for the third time. I agree with TOK that our post play was the difference (cite: Ruth Riley in the post when we won the NC). I also agree that Baylor has to be the odds-on favorite to win it all next year.

That's good news for Scott and the Team. There are some promising young incoming freshman who would have had to play if Scott had not been given the 6th year. Now Brey can start Scott and bring the freshmen along at what ever pace their abilities will allow.

Too bad Tim Abromitis was not granted his 6th year, he was as deserving. But Tim is a very smart kid and will be just fine. I don't know if Tim is going to try and play in Europe or go into business, he's got his undergrad degree and a grad degree and is a very smart kid.
