Schedules are up for the future...Swarbrick to have press conference today. I know he's got a tough job making a schedule since we've had to add the 5 ACC teams every year. 2014 Aug. 30 RICE Sept. 6 MICHIGAN (night) Sept. 13 * Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind. (night) Sept. 27 at Syracuse (MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J.) Oct. 4 STANFORD Oct. 11 NORTH CAROLINA Oct. 18 at Florida State Nov. 1 vs. Navy (FedEx Field, Landover, Md.) Nov. 8 at Arizona State Nov. 15 NORTHWESTERN Nov. 22 LOUISVILLE Nov. 29 at USC * Shamrock Series game 2015 Sept. 5 TEXAS Sept. 12 at Virginia Sept. 19 GEORGIA TECH Sept. 26 MASSACHUSETTS Oct. 3 at Clemson Oct. 10 NAVY Oct. 17 USC Oct. 31 at Temple (Lincoln Financial Services Field) Nov. 7 at Pittsburgh Nov. 14 WAKE FOREST Nov. 21 * Boston College at Fenway Park, Boston, Mass. (night) Nov. 28 at Stanford * Shamrock Series game 2016 Sept. 3 at Texas Sept. 10 NEVADA Sept. 17 MICHIGAN STATE Sept. 24 DUKE Oct. 1 at Syracuse (MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J.) Oct. 8 at North Carolina State Oct. 15 STANFORD Oct. 29 MIAMI Nov. 5 vs. Navy (site TBD) Nov. 12 * Army at Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas (night) Nov. 19 VIRGINIA TECH Nov. 26 at USC * Shamrock Series game But a couple of comments. 1. With regards to the Shamrock Series, which in general I have liked and I support the concept. I do not get the playing Boston College in Fenway. It's a home game for us but we go to their city to play them. Sort of makes it a home game for BC. Not to mention I don't really get the whole play in Fenway deal anyway, it's a broken down old baseball field. At least Yankee Stadium is brand new. We are playing BC in a hockey game Jan 4, 2014..Frozen Fenway I sort of get that. But not this one. Also 2016 in San Antonio, now I went to the Washington State game with Kes and Scott and some family and I had a very nice time, San Antonio is an excellent place to play a game. But we will open the season in Austin vs Texas I don't see why we are coming back to Texas for a second game, and I absolutely hate Army as the opponent. 2. The 2014 Schedule is a very good schedule. Will be a challenge for the team.
The 2014 schedule is more than "good".... it's downright brutal. If ND sustains a few injuries along the way the Irish could be looking at the kind of year that UF just endured.... not fun.
Tough as that ND schedule is... and I think it is very tough.. the Irish play #s 1, 5, 14, 18 and 25 in the current BCS rankings. UF plays #1, 3, 8, 9, 16 and 22. The Gators are at #1 and at #3.... jeezus.... see ya Willy... you've been freed!! lol
The real world part is that if you win all those "tough" games you will get credit and be a lock for the playoff...but if another team plays an easier schedule and is undefeated while UF or ND go 11-1 they might be left out.
I don't think UF can take that giant Auburn like step next season vs. that schedule and with Will Molasses at the helm. 9-3 would be a terrific.... job saving coaching miracle but it wouldn't get UF in the top 4. 7-5 is probably what's going to happen.
So.. if I still have this job next season (I really hope I do since I love it here), who wants to get drunk with me in Tallahassee next season?
You are probably right if it is a team from a major conference. Ohio State this year might have been punished for their SOS if they had finished 12-0 but then again maybe not. :?
Well I thought #3 Ohio State would beat us pretty soundly, never did I think we would have a chance to win only to completely melt down and let them off the hook. But then that's why they are #3, better players and Thad Matta is a better coach than Mike Brey. I was sort of expecting the result of the MSU/Texas game, where MSU came in a just put a whupping on the Longhorns. I guess it's a good thing that we played Ohio State tough, I know they didn't shoot well in the 2nd half but maybe we had something to do with it. Either way both games are losses for my teams.
Terry, We were indeed fortunate to win that game tonight. I thought we were done when you had the eight point lead late in the game.
Yeah and that was on the players. Brey gets a lot of criticism deservedly so but the players frittered that one away yesterday.
re: ACC basketball We're going to be runnin' and gunnin' on Tobacco Road with no guns and nobody who can run...
I'm surprised to see a writer deal with the touchy subject of heart and leadership on the defensive side, but IMO Al Lesar of the SBT hit the nail squarely on the head. http://bleacherreport.com/tb/dc3fg?...m=newsletter&utm_campaign=notre-dame-football
