Looking like the weather might be more like South Bend instead of Miami for the game... http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_16968918
ND <t>Well the weather here in El Paso has gone absolutely crazy. Started yesterday with 60mph winds and continued through the night. Today started out O.K. and then the winds returned along with rain that turned to SNOW! It's a mess now and the temperature is dropping fast. Gotta break out the cold weather gear(which I don't have much of) for the game tomorrow. The wind has calmed down now so I'm hoping it's just cold with no wind or rain for the game which I'm sure will be just fine for the Irish.</t>
Just so you know and this is with both my son and ex wife as witness. In the checkout line at Sam's Club tonight, the couple behind me had a little boy about 12 years old and a daughter somewhere just shy of that.. maybe Carson's age. The little boy noticed my ND sweatshirt. He'd smiled every time he saw it (they are VERY rare in these parts and I fly the flag proud). So they wound up behind me in the checkout and as I am collecting my receipt and boxing up my stuff, the boy says "big game for the Irish tomorrow." I reply, 'yes it is, Notre Dame and Miami. Should be lots of fun' He replies "Catholics versus the Convicts, first time since 1988" I correct the young man, 'actually they played in 1990, I believe that was the last time' The young man replies.. 'really? I thought it was 88, either way, we're going to beat them just like last time' (note, this game took place long before this young man was born) I tell the young man that is what I am hoping for... He informs me that he goes to Catholic school here in Huntsville and would love to see the Irish beat USC and Miami (sidenote: I love this kid) in the same season. I agree.. I always feel awkward talking to other people's kids especially when the adults don't seem to be partaking in the conversation..So I start to head for the door. Then I notice the parents were sporting Tide gear... Ahhh yes, I think.. the good fathers and sisters and the local Catholic school have been working their magic on the young man. I say goodbye and turn toward the door, then turned back around to say 'Hey kid, Go Irish'.. He replied, "Beat Canes" I loved that kid!
Visualize the Coke commercial with Mean Joe Greene, only in Sam's Club with Corey. Corey: Hey kid...Go Irish! Kid: Beat Canes! Corey: Hey kid......want my t-shirt? Kid: Uh.....no thanks, mister. Parents to clerk: Call the police!
SID gets post of the year, a late entry no doubt but still the winner...of course there are still a few hours left for others to try!
Our starting QB's look like they should be heading off to middle school instead of today's bowl game....
Sid, LOL. No one is calling the police on New Year's. Their backyard still's might be exposed I could definitely tell the kid's Irish fanhood was NOT supported by the parents at all. Since I live in the Temple of the Tide and Tiger cult, and being the constant cart tipper I am, I just had to stir the pot. That kid was happier than a pig in poop. It's a shame the Irish don't come South more often. Granted we don't have anywhere near the fan base we do in other parts of the country but the fans here are starved for the Irish.
To give you a better idea.. Imagine living in Ann Arbor, with hotter women and less snow. It's at least that bad.
ND <t>Well we froze our butts of but it was well worth it as the Irish beat up on the "canes. GO IRISH!! Floyd was great and Tommy Rees did what he had to to bring home an important Bowl win for ND!! <br/> <br/> Kelly appeared to have them well prepared.<br/> <br/> Brian and I think the Irish should play more games in Texas. I watched them play in Austin, San Antonio and now El Paso and they are 3-0!!!</t>
Kelly is the real deal.....and now that Tulsa loss doesn't seem so bad either. Good things......no great things ahead for the Irish. Welcome back.
His mother doesn't think so!! Dave I think Kelly may have turned things, but he's still got a long way to go I'm hoping that unlike our last 2 coaches he doesn't have an biography written after his first season!
I have it on good authority that the statue of Father Corby, famously known as "Fair Catch" Corby. Is going to be removed and replaced with a statue of John "Fair Catch" Goodman!
