Beilein as head of an evil empire? Harbaugh, I understand. But Beilein...how can anyone dislike such a decent, humble man? Damn, and to think I was rooting against Duke in the ACC final....
Yeah I'd agree Beilin is not a bad guy, in fact a likeable guy! edit: I'd have to add that he's a great coach as well.
Agree re: Beilein. My wife and I fondly recall watching Beilein-coached West Virginia with 6'11" Kevin Pittznogle (sp?) as their center. We loved his name, and he looked like a Pittznogle.
A little bit off topic, but did you see that Lonzo Ball's dad wants a shoe deal for his 3 sons of 1 Billion Dollars. He kindly said that they didn't have to give him the money up front, 100M a year would be acceptable. Lonzo, a 1 and done freshman at UCLA is a great player for sure. But I can't imagine Dad is going to get some kind of deal like that for the kids right out of the gate. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18901427/lavar-ball-seeks-combined-1-billion-shoe-deal-three-sons
Ball's dad has said some pretty outrageous things before this. He's an idiot, and he's putting a target on his sons' backs. Too bad for the kids.
Tom Crean's seat must be getting at least a little warm after last night's opening round loss in the NIT to Ga.Tech.
Terry, I think that would be an accurate statement. All the players are back next year unless Bryant decides to go pro, which in my and others' opinions would be a mistake. Same with Blackmon and Anonoby. I'm guessing he'll get another year to see if this season was a blip or a trend.
I guess Crean's seat got hot as a firecracker after that loss, IU fired him today. I wonder who they will go after?
That was a tight one Don....Win and Advance! Last time Princeton was in the tourney they lost to a final four bound Kentucky by....2 points. No upsets so far though.
Middle Tenn looks like they will pull the first upset of the tourney over Minn. WVU got past Bucknell, by 6 points ... I'm sure both WVU and ND fan bases would have been happier with 15-20 point wins over their double digit seeded opponents...but win and advance.
Big mistake by Vandy player at the end of the Northwestern game. He didn't know the score and thought he needed to foul, instead it was just the opposite they had the lead and didn't want to foul. But Vandy had 15 secs after the Northwestern kid made his foul shots, a 2 pointer likely wins, but they ended up taking a NBA 3 pointer and lost. Xavier is looking like another upset.
Illinois didn't waste any time they went after the Oklahoma State coach, Brad Underwood, who was there just this year. 1 and done. He was very successful at Stephen F. Austin before OSU. I guess IU is going to wait on the word from UCLA coach Steve Alford, a native son. But I wonder if he want's to go back, he wasn't successful at Iowa and I heard he pissed off a lot of HS coaches in the Midwest while he was at Iowa. I don't want to say he can't lose, as UCLA is a great job and so is IU (for the right guy). I wonder where IU will turn if Alford says no to his Alma Mater.
Bobby Knight was a great coach that did a lot of good things but his behavior did him in. To bad he can't admit that. Meanwhile I am enjoying the Gator run and very happy with our new head coach Mike White. Hope he stays a long time.
Big Ten teams are creating some real havoc in the tournament! Michigan wins over Louisville in a close one.
