I haven't a clue who the frontrunners are.

Tebow's time could come one day.... but no coaching experience.

    Nice article about Will.

He'll make someone a helluva defensive coordinator:

From Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun:

" 6 names you can immediately eliminate: 1. Rich Rod, 2. Dana Holgerson, 3. Dan Mullen, 4. Jim Harbaugh, 5. Sonny Dykes, 6. Steve Spurrier.....he is 100% certain based on his sources that it will not be any of these."

    Not eliminating Lane Kiffen...... yet.

I personally like a guy like Gary Patterson of TCU.

A defensive minded guy who can also put together an effective offense.

Damn it Dave.. I was going to make that post this morning but babies are demanding.. :)

Lane Kiffin. He's tan, rested and ready. He's the last winner at Tennessee. He may have finally managed to learn something about defense.

Can't see another major program give Lane a chance. He's going to have to go to some lower ranked place and earn his bones. Wake Forrest, Vandy, AAC team, Mtn West team, CUSA team. Not UF.

    Doc Holiday.

Speaking of Mullen.. I'm not sure what all went down, but it appears that Mullen and Foley do not like each other at all. I was watching the SEC Network the day Muschamp stepped down and Gene Chizik laughed at the notion that Mullen would replace him.. and that bastard only ever laughs when Members Only goes back in stock. He made a quick reference to something between Mullen and Foley, but did laugh about it never happening. I heard Tim Brando do something similar. I have no idea what the hell happened, but for such a red hot coach with clear ties to the open job to be a laughable consideration.. it really makes you wonder what happened.

Doc is the Marshall coach and has done a good job. He has coached at Florida so he knows the program and the demands.

Do have to wonder about Mullen and Foley.

On the other hand Mullen was almost gone from MSU..... but look at him now.

All in all he deserves a lot of credit for the Bulldogs success.

This is a starting lineup from Mississippi State this year. Mullen may be ready to leave. 8)

good grief, the Irish don't have that many seniors on their team. :)

Mullen is still recruiting this area hard. As I said before, it's interesting to see the players he is targeting. He's going after those 2 and 3 star big body guys who can run. Then, I guess he'll try to hold onto them down the stretch when your Alabama/Auburn etc teams try to fill their class.

I think the Aggies might have that many, but they only see the field when the two freshman in front of them get injured.

It shows the difference between a program like Alabama who is loaded with the results of 5 straight #1 recruiting classes and a team that is loaded with 2 and 3 star players few of which would even consider leaving early for the NFL but have stayed and developed into very good college football players.

When those guys leave after this year it'll be hard for MSU to reload like Alabama does. Gary Patterson has the same deal at TCU, that team that beat Wisc in the Rose Bowl was loaded with seniors. He's had some good teams since then but it's taken him awhile to get back to where he is right now. I haven't looked at the TCU roster but I'd be shocked if the top 22 weren't dominated by 4th and 5th year players.

247 reporting that Brian Kelly is at the top of Foley's list. That would be a huge blow to the Irish to have our coach hired away from us by another college. Leave for the NFL not so much, that happens. But another college program. We've always been a destination job not a stepping stone.

    Terry,

No program is immune to poaching.
IF... (big if) Kelly were to leave for Florida it wouldn't make ND a stepping stone.
Just means circumstances were right and he felt he needed to go.
    Probably 1 in a 100 kind of a deal...

One selling point is there are no parkas required to be the head coach at Florida and low flying miles... 8)

Just curious for my own info, but what kind of a buyout clause does Kelly enjoy? I hope it does not compare to Charlie's!!
