Great stuff BDR...I had no doubt that a man of your fine taste would enjoy it..... 8) What else you listening to? I'm always looking for some worthy additions. Terry
Terry, Here are a few: Sonny Rollins - Saxaphone Colossus (Max Roach on drums) Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - Moanin' (Lee Morgan on trumpet) Miles Davis - 'Round About Midnight (John Coltrane on saxaphone) John Coltrane - My Favorite Things Lucky Thompson - Lucky In Paris On the last two albums, Coltrane and Thompson play soprano sax in addition to tenor. After what Kenny fooking G did to the instrument, it's refreshing to hear.
Oh the memories... Back when I use to drink heavily on Saturday nights I pulled about the same stunt. At 2 in the morning I decided I wanted to show off my brand new John Deere to my brother. Both of us were drunk off our butts, I took him for a ride. I mowed down one side of the neighborhood and back up the other side. Remember this was at 2 in the morning. For quite some times afterwards I was so embarrassed driving past neighbors homes. Wife almost left me. I'm just so thankful no one called the cops. Until this day I still can't believe a neighbor didn't call the law on me. I've done lots of growing up since then. Kids will do that to you.
Terry, Here's a link to a great station, KKJZ in Long Beach, that streams their broadcast. I listen to it at work sometimes instead of bringing in CDs. It's a great way to sample music (except during pledge drives). Rick
BDR, thanks...one of the downsides of living in a smaller city like Wilmington, is the limited selection of radio and I have not made the satellite plunge as yet. Ive been missing a good jazz station and my kids keep yelling at me to take my ipod - actually the Dell version - out of my ears. Terry
Terry, have you thought about trying satellite radio?...I know that XM has a pretty good jazz lineup and I assume that Serius does as well. http://www.xmsatelliteradio.com/programming/neighborhood.jsp?hood=jazz_and_blues stu
Stu, I think about it often ...I know they have great programming, just have not pulled the trigger yet. If I spent more time in my car, I'd probably sign up tomorrow rather than suffer through the options we have available locally. Krebsie, Wilmington, NC. Terry
Don't have to be in your car to listen, they have options that allow you to hook it up to your stereo system. Home Audio
Right, Terry... And you don't have to buy a big receiver like that...I have the SkyFi2 which is a small unit. Plugs into my car, my home stereo amplifier, or a portable boombox. Sounds great and is easy to set up...they have even newer ones now...that will play stand alone thru headphones or that will allow downloading and purchasing of music. I listen to the Blues channel a lot...but the jazz stations are awesome too. And as an XM subscriber you get to log onto their XM radio online at any time and listen to any of their music channels while you are on your computer. http://shop.xmradio.com/detail.aspx?pid=130&cat=10 stu
Buckeye T, I got lost in Wilmington, NC once driving to Myrtle Beach. Saw every inch of Cape Fear too.
The car is really the only place I listen to the radio....I have better options available at home - either cable or web-based - than I do in the car. You guys are doing a helluva good sales job though.....keep it up. I'm almost there.... Hell Krebsie, that's nothin'....I got lost going through Wilmington on my way to Myrtle Beach too - and I live here! Myrtle's only a hop-skip and a jump away. I should get down there more often than I do....if anybody's heading down, let me know. I'd love to drive down and play 18 holes now that I know how to upgrade my car l listening options! Terry
Next time I go down I'll get a hold of you for sure. BTW, I think I found your wallet at Crazy Horse
