re: burglary while wearing his uniform Twenty-five years ago, I was coaching my son Eric in Little League. Before our big playoff game, our centerfielder was hauled off the field by the local police in handcuffs. Witnesses saw him spray painting graffiti on our electronic scoreboard several hours earlier, wearing his uniform, with our team logo on the front and his number on the back. That was the last I ever saw of him...
I am not exactly defending Morrison what he did was dumb. However the Sheriff said that he should have been given a warning and not arrested. The feeling is that this will be dismissed. Here's a link to GatorCountry that I don't think is in the premium area. And notice there doesn't seem to be anything on Sportsline or ESPN about this part of the story. More about Morrison woofing the police dog Read more: http://www.gatorcountry.com/football/article/morrison_tape_draws_questions/17556#ixzz2ZteseEiW
Lloyd is now contacting Al Sharpton's dog to organize a protest at Central Bark in Milwaukee over yet another travesy of justice in Florida http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9503502/state-drops-charges-florida-gators-lb-antonio-morrison No Justice..Woof..No Peace...Woof
I know the concept of "student-athlete" is about as stylish as bell bottom jeans but this kid really makes a mockery of it. I don't think the powers to be at A & M will be completely distraught when he finally beats his early exit http://espn.go.com/college-football...university-texas-fraternity-party-report-says
What was he doing at Texas? Did he really think he would go unnoticed? Was the Tebow jersey a disguise?
As a kid growing up he wanted to go to Texas, plus for kids his age Austin is where it's at for girls and party's. And he likes to party. I predict he's going to violate "Team Rules" and have to be suspended before the end of the season...he just can't handle being a celebrity. He's he anti-Tim Tebow.
Ooooohhhhh nooooo... JFF's father and mother are angry that "Texas A&M and Coach Sumlin are making all that money, while our son gets zero." Isn't the daddy the same guy who claimed to have been the cock fighting champion of Texas in 1983? The fact that their son is getting a free education at one of the world's great universities has no value to them at all. This story began as a Beverly Hill Billies rerun and it's turning into a Leon Spinks fight promotion... http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/texas-aggies/20130730-report-johnny-manziel-has-had-therapy-for-alcohol-anger-issues-father-texas-am-ncaa-are-selfish.ece http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/24/sports/ncaafootball/keeping-heisman-contender-johnny-manziel-on-target-and-in-line.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
Johnny Football thought it was OK to sign autographs for money??????? Of course, it's an allegation not a proven fact at this point. Not to mention I'm sure if it's true he and his advisors/parents will claim they didn't know and pay the money back and it'll all be ok. But seriously, if it is true, how in the world did he, his parents, or advisors not know he can't do that. That'd be like guys selling their "memorbilia" to collectors for money and saying they never heard of anybody getting in trouble for it.
Well I hope it did not happen for the fans of Texas A&M and for the rest of us who love college ball and what he brings to it.
Johnny <t>Wow, this kid is something. I think I see now why they don't like giving the Heisman to freshmen. What a joke. And just think of how much time he has left at T A&M to screw up even more! LOL</t>
oh no, the kid might have made money because he's JFF. He should know that only the NCAA can exploit his name, image and likeness forever...and then tell everyone it was 'their work.' This thing is going to come down in flames if they aren't careful. Something has to be done about the hypocrisy, but in the meantime here is my question... This kid is from oil money if I'm not mistaken, why would he do this for what amounts to pocket change?
What this kid brings to football is quickly being eclipsed by all the nonsense and drama that comes with it.
I will withhold my judgement until more information is available. Having said that, I really hope he is innocent of this. I am looking forward to Alabama playing A&M in September and I really want Johnny "Football" on the field. And should we win, I don't want to have to hear the "if's" that would inevitably follow if he weren't playing.
You'll have to forgive me if I'm a little skeptical of this hack job/investigation. JF has signed items in the past (and this instance was not yesterday) without violation I'm sure the NCAA keeps a running tab on JF so their involvement is not a surprise. No one in our program seems too worried and we have a robust compliance department. Seems more like ESPN trying to create a scoop to me. Can we just start the season?
