125 years after the New York Gothams began playing the Brooklyn Bridegrooms the rivalry has taken another turn: the Dodgers have won the West for the 3rd year in a row. This time they also eliminated Frisco once and for all.

It was a classic matchup: Clayton Kershaw vs. Madison Bumgarner. The final result was a Kershaw masterpiece: a complete game, one-hitter, with one walk and 13Ks.

Corey Seager has hit in every game since they brought him up 22 games ago. He's now just 2 games shy of Junior Gilliam's rookie record.

Celebrating on Frisco's field was fun!

    Congrats to the Dodgers.

Astros are still in it but really struggling to the end. Our relief pitching has cost us a lot down the stretch, can't hold leads. Angels have now caught us and passed us, so very real possibility that we won't even make the playoffs.

No matter whether we make the playoffs or don't make them, they have to do something about our relief pitching in the off season, it's really killed us.

Boy there are a lot of permutations on the last 4 days of the season with the Astros having 3 games with the Dbacks while the Angels have 4 games with the Rangers.

If the Rangers sweep the Angels I think the Astros are in no matter what happens in Arizona. Beyond that I can't compute! :)

BTW did you see that article about fighting in MLB being mostly between White and Hispanic players? Bud Norris has definitely stirred the pot!

OK here are the Astros senarios...

Astros go 3-0: They are wild card.
Astros go 2-1: Angels or Twins would have to go 3-0 to force a tie.
Astros go 1-2: Angels or Twins would have to go 3-0 to win wild card; Angels or Twins would have to go 2-1 to force a tie.
Astros go 0-3: Angels or Twins would have to go 2-1 to win wild card; Angels or Twins would have to go 1-2 to force a tie.
If the Astros and Angels finished tied, the teams would play a one-game playoff on Monday, Oct. 5 in Houston. The Astros earned home-field by winning the season series, 10-9.

If the Astros and Twins finished tied, the teams would play a one-game playoff on Monday, Oct. 5. Based on current tiebreakers, the game would be in Minneapolis.

Holy Crap...Astros pounding DBacks 21-2 in the bottom of the eight, Kuechel is out of their and the bullpen is finishing...I don't think even our bullpen can blow this lead!

Great job by the Stros. They were certainly the most improved team this season and I was curious to see if they would fold at the end, but they didn't and got in there!

Congratulations, Terry! This time last year, who'd have thought that the Astros would be a playoff team. It's a great accomplishment.

Nationals fire Matt Williams. No surprise. They currently are in conference with Bryce Harper to learn his choice for the new manager.

C.C. Sabathia is going into Alcohol rehab and miss the post season. Sort of odd timing isn't it?

Well, now we know where his fastball went. When everybody in the game is throwing 96-100mph, he went from 96 to 88.

He wasn;t going to be a factor in the game with Houston one way or the other but if the Yankees somehow manged to get by the 'Stros he was in the rotation for the balance of the playoffs.

Nobody did a better job managing than Joe Girardi this year. Every one of his starting pitchers out at least once, nobody hitting over .270, losing Texeira right after the AS break. If it weren't for sheer will power they would not have made it this far.

Astros starting pitcher tonight is a 20 game winner, a Cy Young candidate who makes around 550K/year. Yankee's starter is a 12 game winner who makes 22M/year. Life ain't fair!! :)

Astros payroll this year is still only 69Million, Yankee's are at 214M.

Although that won't stay the same for the Astros they have a number of players who are coming up to that point in their career's where you either pay them or lose them.

Just wondering about the timing. Does it make a difference if he asks for help during the season rather then in the off season. The Yanks season could end today.
