Big Series between Astros and Rangers starting tonight. 4 games. Astros have a slight lead over the Rangers, but the Rangers have been the better team since the All-Star break. A split would be a big win for the Astros.
Terry, I see that despite the results of the series with the Rangers, the Astros still are 1.5 games up on the Twins for the 2nd wild card spot. The Cubs remain 7.5 games up on the Giants for the 2nd wild card spot and 3 games behind the Pirates for home field in the wild card game.
Yeah we're still in it for the wildcard, but for how long. We're really struggling now. Ace gets absolutely hammered last nigt in Arlington, that's not a good sign, and even when we do get a good outing from a starter the BP gives up the game in the late innings. Right now things not looking good for the Astros.
 Here's an alert for you home gamers. The Dodgers have a bunch of young kids on their roster and you should know about two of them: 1. Corey Seager- Corey was finally brought up and he's so good that they're seriously thinking about keeping him on the playoff roster instead of Jimmy Rollins. No kidding. He's batting a cool .426 and he hits everything hard. He's a legit 6'4" with a big time arm at SS and he can also play 3B. He's a cool one who always looks focused out there and he's probably the best Dodger rookie that I've ever seen... 2. Scott Schebler - He's 24 years-old and he's a power hitting OF. He runs well and when he gets hold of a fastball it goes a country mile. He hit one that almost went out at Dodger Stadium. He reminds me of a young Greg Luzinski. Seager doesn't remind me of anyone. He's a tall SS like Ernie Banks or Cal Ripken, but he's a better fielder than Banks and he's a better hitter than Ripken...
Re: keeping Seager and dumping Rollins. Nothing would surprise me, but I would think Rollins' veteran presence in the locker room is a factor in the team's regular season success. I don't think they'd want to mess with team chemistry going into the playoffs. We'll see.
Dodgers win, Giants lose. The magic number is down to 8. Another HR for Seager. Greinke is now 18-3...
LAST WEEK OF BASEBALL!!! Thank GOD right Jiffy? Sid!! Cards last 3 games at the Burgh?.....any requests? Doc!!......P/T Card fan......4 more wins and we break a 100 wins!! I need a NYY/STL or a KC/STL WS this year........
Re: Cy Young I listened to a conversation on TV last night during the Dodgers-D'backs game about the CY Young. I wasn't aware just how phenomenal the seasons have been for all 3 NL candidates, Arrietta, Greinke, and Kershaw. I need to walk back my comment in another topic about Arrietta being the clear leader. All 3 are having spectacular seasons, and a strong case can be made for each one. I love this game.
KC/STL series....still looking for revenge for this? <iframe src='http://m.mlb.com/shared/video/embed/embed.html?content_id=13062921&topic_id=6479266&width=400&height=224&property=mlb' width='400' height='224' frameborder='0'>Your browser does not support iframes.</iframe>
Oh just thinking...the Astros have done fairly well vs the Royals this season and that maybe we'd take them out for you! Professional courtesy you know, for an old but respected foe from out NLC days.
Dodgers win; Frisco loses... Dodgers magic number is four. They could win the West and eliminate Frisco in Denver...
Royals clinch their first division title since '85. "85 why does something about '85 seem significant? I can't quite put my finger on it!
8) Frisco loses again. The magic number is down to 2... The Dodgers revealed their master plan to take over the world today on the pregame show. The belief here is that the best team in the NL is the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates will play the Cubs in a one-game playoff, which they will lose, because the Cubs will pitch Arrieta. With both the Pirates and Arrieta removed, the way will be cleared for the Dodgers to be the team of destiny... Pretty good plan...eh?
