Yankees are still missing pitchers Luis Severino, James Paxton and Dellen Betances. Position Players Miguel Adujar, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorius. Playing .750 baseball for the last five weeks missing 7 All Stars. Here is a fun fact. Gleyber Torres has 10 home runs this season against Baltimore. And we're still in May!
I see that Braves young phenom, Austin Riley, has hit 5 HR in his first 9 ABs. I'm calling it now, he can't keep up that pace.
Las Vegas now has NFL and NHL franchises and the rest can't be far behind. The Las Vegas Valley has 2.5 million people and it's the 11th fastest growing area in the country. It's a gold mine waiting for somebody to move in and looking at all those empty seats in Florida makes me wonder what they're waiting for.
Yeah, they have had a successful AAA team there for years. It's only a matter of time until someone wises up and moves to Las Vegas.
Trevor Bauer is a name that keeps coming up on the Astros wish list for a 3rd high quality starter along with Madison Bumgarner and another guy I can't remember. Dream would be Max Scherzer from the Nationals, but they (the Nationals) would have to agree to doing something with the deferred payments on his contract as they are huge and the Astros wouldn't take those on a bet. Interesting thing about Bauer is that when he's talked about as a possible addition to the staff it's almost 100% that nobody wants him on the team (this is fans and radio people not actual Astros). Bad blood from some of his comments in the past.
Dodgers will be looking to fill a hole in their middle relief. They have everything except pitchers for innings 7-8... Catcher Will Smith made his MLB debut last night with a single, double and he gunned down a base stealer. He's impressive and his elevation to the majors makes another catcher, Keibert Ruiz, the #1 prospect in the Dodger system and they have more behind him. I have to believe that at some point, they will trade some of those kids for pitchers. Everybody needs catchers.
Astros are starting to look like the Yankees. Correa out with rib soreness that turned out to be a cracked rib, Altuve out and having issues with his surgically repaired knee in addition to hammy issues, Springer out with hammy issues, Altuves replacement out with hammy issues, his replacement is the part time left fielder Tony Kemp. Last night had three guys who were in AAA last week starting and now they have brought up another AAA player to replace Correa.
One of the pitchers that the Dodgers traded last year made a rather dominant MLB debut last night. Not too many guys make the Brewers hitters look that bad.
Will be in St. Louie Friday night for Cards - Crubs....I'll have a sign that says "GET BETTER COREY"!!
Astros help AJ's Cards by taking 2 out of 3 from the Cubs. Sadly a little girl was hit by foul ball in the stands last night. She reportedly will be ok but it was a scary sight.
1. Is there any solution to these unfortunate incidents in baseball parks where fans are injured, some seriously, by foul balls? 2. Carlos Correa is being called out by some in the Houston Media (radio) over his cracked rib that he got from a massage at his home. They don't believe him and think there is more to the story. I wonder how long it will take before somebody finds out the name of his massage therapist and tries to get that person to comment.
Looking at the league as we are about to leave May. The Twins have to be the surprise team of MLB so far, last year they finished under .500, 13 games behind the Indians. Now they have the highest winning % in MLB and lead the Tribe by 9.5 games. Not to mention that they are +112 in runs, next closest team is the Astros at +92, even the Dodgers are way behind them in this stat at +80. What's the difference between this years team and last years.
