I'd make that trade in a second if I was in the Yankees organization. Since I'm a Sox fan, I hope you don't.
George is right of course. Did the Dodgers need Bryce Harper? He couldn't win a spot in our outfield. The Yankees don't need more power hitters any more than we do. Both teams need pitchers...
BTW... Once again the Dodgers aren't trying to break the all-time win records. They're already experimenting and dangling young players as trade bait. Joc Pedersen has been playing first base, because AJ Pollock is coming back after the All-Star break, leaving us with too many outfielders. Corey Seager will return then too, forcing us to return all our .300 hitting infielders to the minors. We currently have three outstanding catchers, with three of our Top10 minor league prospects being catchers too! Our only weakness is the bullpen. At some point, some of these catchers and outfielders will have to go. It might be the old guys like Pollock and Russel Martin...
The first girl was only 15 years-old; a kid who made a mistake. Now the copy cats and publicity hounds are getting in on the act and Bellinger is pissed. He's a serious player who understands that non-serious Dodgers get traded to Siberian outposts like San Diego and Cincinnati.
The Dodgers (front office) casual approach to their overall record continues and their fans are getting pissed off. Last night, Mrs. JO'Co got disgusted and turned the game off. I almost did too... - The Dodgers started FOUR rookies. That's half the starting lineup! - Bellinger was on the bench. - Joc Pedersen was on the bench. - Max Muncie was on the bench. - Our catcher, Austin Barnes, started at 2nd base. - Pitcher Kenta Maeda was used as a PINCH HITTER in the 4th inning. The insanity continues later today. The Dodgers starting pitcher for today is rookie Tony Gonsolin making his major league debut. He really hasn't been a starting pitcher since Little League, but he did spend four years in the outfield at St. Mary's College in Moraga and he has a good arm. Who's idea was this?
What do you guys think of the new method of having a run off vote for the All Star game starters? Anybody surprised that only Cody Bellinger is likely to start for the NL when the Dodgers are far and away the best team in the NL?
Dodger Dog already knows this.... How dominant are the 55-26 Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League? Following are NL ranks: Offense: fWAR: 20.0 (1) 13.8 (2 -- ATL) OBP: .346 (1) SLG: .470 (1) wOBA: .342 (1) wRC+ 114 105 (2 -- ATL) ISO: .204 (1) They also strike out less than any team in the league. Defense: They also lead the league in FG defensive team metrics. Starting Pitching: LAD starting pitchers lead the NL in fWAR. They also have the lowest BB/9 in the league. Bullpen: Dodgers bullpen ranks 5th in the NL, and the end of games is their achilles heel. That's where they'll add at the deadline.
Dodgers lose 2 of 3 in AZ, what a disgrace... Lots of errors and misplays by Pedersen at 1st base and others looked confused. We finished with Russell Martin pitching and his teammates gave him a standing ovation as he walked off. He's NEVER been scored on and one of his pitches was clocked at 90 mph! The new guy, Goose Gonsolin, looked good. He was somebody's Frankenstein project that worked. He has control over 4 pitches with a fastball clocked up to 100mph. His whole family was there and his parents looked like they couldn't believe it... re: All-Star voting. I think the players should pick the starters.
I felt bad for the kid. He made his major league debut and that pretend defense the Manager put out there just burned him by kicking the ball 3 times. I have to wonder why the hell the Dodgers do this stuff. I wouldn't even do that to an American Legion team. Either the Dodgers have a lot of dead arms, or the management is a bunch of dipshits with really bad ideas.
What's up with the Angels Shohei Ohtani? I know he had TJ surgery, but he's playing some this year and seems to be doing well. He's hitting .291 and has 9 HR's in part time duty. I wonder if we'll ever see him back as both a pitcher and a hitter. Would he be better off concentrating on being full time at one or the other?
That's a good question @Terry O'Keefe . The guy was a big money purchase because of his dual roles, I'm not sure he's worth even half that amount of money as just a one role player.
Watched the end of the Dodger game in the 9th (which was all I needed to see). Does Kenley Jansen realize that he can't pitch himself into a save situation? Jeez, just close the door... of course Muncy kicking one with 2 outs didn't help.

All-Star rosters are set, 3 Astros are starters and 3 Astro pitchers are on the AL squad the largest group from any team NL or AL. The shocker to me is that the MLB leading Dodgers have only 1 position player on the roster, they do have 3 pitchers, but just Cody Belllinger. NL roster is packed with talent though, just seems odd that a team leading MLB in wins only has 1 guy.
oh yeah Happy Bobby Bonilla Day! He gets his check for 1 million dollars from the Mets every July 1st! It doesn't go as far as it used to go, so I hope he's taken care of business!
Nobody east of the Rockies sees Ohtani or Trout play. I know the Dodgers are good but I will rarely see them until October. The Red Sox? Fuggedaboutit. Ship 'em !
The death of Tyler Skaggs reminds me so much of the death of Darryl Kile. He was a popular Astro, but left the team to sign a free agent contract with the Rockies. He ended up with the Cardinals where he was also found dead in his hotel room. He had had a heart attack. No cause of death has been released yet on Skaggs but cardiac event has to be high on the list even though he is young.
