OK so turning a bunt into a stand up double is nothing compared to this Pop Fly Out turned into a triple...it's Jose Altuve down in Round Rock for his rehab assignment. It's comical to watch the left fielder settle in under to only realize there is no ball there to catch! Round Rock Express on Twitter
Verlander had another one of those nights where he fans 10 and loses because he gives up 3 bombs. First guy up for the Reds took him deep, and then he gave up a double, fanned a guy and then they hit another bomb...down 3-0 right off the bat. It's starting to worry me that he's giving up so many HR's.
FanGraph project the Dodgers and the Astros to win 101 games this year. Astros are going to need their stars back though, Springer has not started his minor league rehab, Jose Altuve will be back tonight, and Carlos Correa will be gone till August. Btw...once again in the last 3 years...tightest race is in the NLC....Anybody's chance....go get it if you want it.
Swept by the lowly Reds and now off to NYC for the Yankees and a 4 game series. I have a sense of doom.
The Reds aren't quite as lowly as in the past. They're starting to show real signs of life as evidenced in the series with the Astros. Terry, this isn't as "doom worthy" as you may think.
hmmm.... Big Al ( Albert Pujols) is making his return to St. Louis. It's been a long time since he was traded it's hard to imagine that is this the first time the Angels with Pujols have played in St. Louis. Bet he gets a good reception. He was one the greatest Cardinals ever.
My son and my twin grandsons were at the game. He described the first standing O as "awesome". Molina walked to the pitcher's mound, and the plate umpire walked away leaving Pujols there alone. He also got strong ovations the other times he came to the plate.
Well Verlander had a great outing and the bat's came alive. Yordan Alvarez continues to have a terrific start to his MLB career.
Dodgers current Kings of the Mountain...54 wins before the All-Star break...not sure they can challenge the record of 66 held by the Red Sox or the 65 wins of the '69 Orioles. 75' Reds had 61, 98' Yankee's also had 61, while the 2001 Mariners had 63.
So I started a bruhaha on a Yankees forum on FaceBook where I suggested that a trade of Aaron Judge to Washington for Max Scherzer may not be all that bad. The Yankees have tons of hitting and outfielders but lack starting pitching and have no one of Scherzer's pedigree. I may have to change my name.... one guy accused me of abusing bath salts. What say you guys?
Well Scherzer is a pitcher that the local talk radio guys here in Houston really would like the Astros to make a deal for, they say if we got him we'd be a lock for the WS and likely win it. Problem is his contract, it's big and has a big big tail on it. Astros not the type of team that would choke down that much money even if it guaranteed them a WS. He's still an excellent pitcher but like Justin Verlander is 34 years old, and with so much left on his contract it's not one easily swallowed.
