Astros get their first look at Japanese phenom Ohtani tonight on the mound. He'll go against World Series hero Charlie Morton who has had a great start to the season so far. He's 3-0 with a .72 ERA. Astros got another great start from Cole last night but the Angels got an even better one from Tyler Skaggs and he shut us out. It should be a dogfight all season between the Astros and the Angels in the West, if Mike Trout stays healthy all season.
  Thank God for the Miami Marlins... - Dodger bats are coming alive finally. - New player Max Muncy playing well @ 3rd base. -Three catchers played last night @ C, 2B, and 3B... - This competition has inspired Grandahl to lead the team in batting avg. - Walker Buehler looked great in his starting debut last night. - He reminds me of Bob Feller and most fastballs were clocked @ 100mph.
HEAT Krebber? lol according to my morning PROJO, Sox have a 4 game lead...Cranks on the other hand are one game out of wild card!!!
Four days ago your paper told you the lead was 7.5 Just don't want the shock to kill you, my friend. 8)
So DodgerDog... what's the story with Matt Kemp? You guys dumped him a few years ago and I look at a box score and he's back.
:!:  re: Matt Kemp Mr. Kemp partied his way out of town. He spent all of his non-baseball time in Hollywood nightclubs drinking the night away. The former nice kid from Oklahoma made being a Dodger a low priority, despite an 8-year, $20 million per year contract that enabled him to chase floozies like they never had back home... He was traded (banished?) to San Diego for catcher Yasmani Grandal. This solved the Dodgers catching problem for years and punished Kemp at the same time. San Diego is America's Siberia for baseball players. It's a minor league town with no night life for people under 80 and thousands of sailors and Marines who descend like locusts on any pretty young girls who wander into their traps. Kemp recently admitted that being a Padre was like being in prison. He almost gave up baseball. San Diego (Where old Dodgers go to die.) gave up on him and traded him to Atlanta, where he put on weight and sniveled about his glory days in LA... The Dodgers re-obtained him from the Braves in a double salary dump. Adrian Gonzalez ($20 million per) was beaten out by Bellinger, so he was traded for Kemp. The plan was to dump both players and their salaries, but Kemp fooled everybody; thrilled to be back in his playpen, he lost 30 lbs. and reported to Spring camp in the best shape of his life. With new motivation and strength, he has become a team leader and a good example for the young players. His phoenix-like rebirth has shocked everyone: even himself.
Jiffer, the Pats will have your undivided attention in plenty of time for the opening of training camp.
Watching the Cubs game today, I saw an interesting stat. The Cubs' outfield collectively is batting .279, one percentage point higher than the Yankees and Red Sox, who are tied at .278, and 2 points higher than the Mariners. Mildly but pleasantly surprised.
When did the Yankees become the home team in Anaheim? It's like Yankee Stadium only 30 degrees warmer.
Angel fans are blow hard, 'anti-Dodger, fans who really only show up when their team is a front runner and they are regularly taken over by BoSox and Yankee fans. They're pathetic.
All the Division races are fairly close right now, except for the NLW. What's up with the DBacks are they for real?
Big series starts tonight in Houston. Sonny Gray vs World Series Hero Charlie Morton who was bombed in his last outing. 4 games at Minute Maid. I'll bet Joel will be tuned in rooting for the Astros! While out in L.A. Dodgers 2017 Rookie of the Year, Cody Bellinger, was benched for lack of hustle. Roberts sending a message?
I would think the Stros are close to a lock tonight. Sonny Gray pitches like a frightened fawn. A great night for him is 4.1 innings and 109 pitches. He is the King of the 55' curve ball.
Well Gray pitched very well but not quite good enough. The Astros are a well built, balanced and talented bunch. Great pitching. On to Game 2.
Well pitched game last night by both starters, Astros get the win though 2-1. When we brought in Ken Giles in the 9th though to protect a 1 run lead, I groaned. Giles has been spotty to say the least. He's got the heat to be a closer but he's so inconsistent. Last night he was lights out. Sorry to see the Dodger SS, Corey Seager, have to have arm surgery and be lost for the season. Kid is young though and should recover nicely and continue on the great path he's been on for his 1st couple of years.
I see the Yankee's didn't get to their Houston hotel till 4am Monday...so that was helpful. Also see that Sonny Gray has maybe found a muse in back up catcher Austin Romine, who has caught him the last two times out and those have been his best two outings of the season. Tonight Montgomery vs Verlander. We saw Montgomery twice last year and beat him both times. Hopefully he'll be 0-3 after tonight.
